Two younger brothers enjoy video/photography (me too)
The one who got one of these isn't the most talented (still great with a camera though) and he takes amazing pictures and videos.
The 16-50 kit lens is very good and absolutely good enough for beginners
People like to crap on the default lens, but its definitely good enough for learning - just stop it down slightly, and ensure there is good light.
Mine does tend to be a bit soft towards the corners, but stopped down anywhere from f5 to f8, its much better.
I've got better quality lenses now and its still the lens I use the most, because of the compact size.
Awesome starter camera although it's a little dated now.
Still the best bang for buck imo.
