  • I think I'll wait till next year and get one big enough to download the entire internet onto my phone.

    400gb on a postage stamp..

    That's 277,777 1.44mb 3.5" floppies.

    Sheit! I'm old.

    • Young fella,

      I still use 360K floppies…

      • That's a lot of floppies

      • Should invest in 80 track high density disk drive. Welcome to the 80s.

Back when floppies were wowing the world some guy was saying "1.44MB on a drinks coaster … that's 256,000 punch cards …"

    • How many punch cards is that? Normally I'de work it out, but it's late…

  • Almost.. just almost down to the magical <$200 AUD barrier..

    • The exact reason why I am leaving it. I want it to go south of $200 before I pull the trigger. Around the $150 mark would be nice but I think we will be waiting a while for that. More realistically might be the $170-$180 price bracket.

      • The new spec for microsd cards is 128TB maximum.

        • which spec is that

  • I would like to know by EOFY , if Harvey Norman increases its earnings, create more jobs and pay more taxes to government after having to compete with amaZon au :)

      HN pays tax?

  • Getting cheaper all the time.

How long until phones come with 1 or 2 TB as standard instead of only 64 or 128 GB?

    • That will be a long time away. They are hitting into actual physical / quantum limits with the current capacities in the size. Shrinking the process may help but that's getting very close to the limit.
The move up has slowed down in the last few years with barely doubling on each jump now. Largest at the moment is 512GB by a couple of lesser brands (PNY / Integral), but it may be too unstable for Sandisk/Samsung to warrant.

      • I think quog was talking about internal / onboard storage on phones.

So far the biggest is 256GB. However there are talks of a galaxy note 9 to have a 512GB variant.

Personally i wont mind not having expandable memory slot when we start seeing 1TB and up on board storage on phones.

    • Sure, just pay $3k when it exists.

Can't see the need personally. Cloud, streaming, my storage requirements are actually reducing lately.

Sd options as standard with the ability to format as internal will be my preference.

The 200GB is $65.82. Makes it the cheapest I have seen?

  • U1 speed rating, why is U1 even still a thing ?
