They used to cost around $450 to $500 until a while ago when their prices dropped to $299. Although JB-Hi-Fi currently has them back at $449 and no longer sell them for $299.

I own these headphones. I honestly cannot recommend them enough for portable use (bus rides, flights, etc). They are brilliant in terms of build-quality, looks, sound isolation, and more importantly sound quality and comfort.

In my opinion, they were arguably worth it at $450, definitely great value at $300, and honestly if you have the money for it, anything below that price is a steal for these headphones.

EDIT: Same deal as yesterday, but cheaper, so I just edited my post.

For those that were confused yesterday, these are the Over Ears (around the ears) Momentum 2.0

The difference between the over-ear and the on-ear Momentum's is not just the pads or their size. The drivers inside (the speakers) are completely different, the quality of the over-ears is significantly better than the on-ear ones or in-ear Momentum's. That's why they are a lot more expensive.

Those are the on ear rather than the over ear model. I have both, Over ear much better.

  • i own a pair of the over ear wired ones and can highly recommend them.
i tried the on ear version which is cheaper, but also vast inferior and paid the extra for the over ear versions.

jb and harvey norman usually have both on the display for testing.

my other head phones are hd650.

  • How do these compare to the QC35ii's? I tried them both at jb yesterday but to me the Bose sounded 10x better. What am I missing?

Horses for courses, if the Bose sound better to YOU then that fair enough. I've found that any type of sound gear is highly subjective and it pays to have a good listen
(if possible) before buying. I also have the QC35's mostly for the ANC but didn't have the opportunity to sample any other cans. They could be a bit brighter IMO but to me they're worth it for the ANC. Would like to listen to the Sony's at some point too.

(Edit, I also have the Beyer Dynamics DT 770's which sound better to me than the Bose (which were almost double the price) but they are wired too. )

      • These are wired if that's important

      • Good call. I'd love to try the Sony's too but can't find them in jb. Might have to find a Sony store.

      • It's probably QC35 reduced much in store noise and sounded clearer. I noticed the difference when I tried.
but the general conscientious is Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 better in sound but no noise reduction, I agree to that.

It's depend on how you define sound quality. Bose has tendency to have too much bass that it overwhelms high and mid frequency. The bass quality isn't the best for the price as well - it's mainly "boomy" rather than having a good details and quality.
If you want to appreciate good headphones:
      1. Get high quality compression music (256kbps at least)
      2. Go to quieter place (jb hifi is too noisy)
      3. Listen to musics with good quality recording and rich musics (you can't go wrong with orchestra that has a lot of instruments)
      4. Pay attention on all aspects: low (eg drum thumping), mid (eg. vocal) and high freq (eg. cymbal), details (eg can i hear that subtle violin on the background?)

Note: I have also Bose QC35 - but I bought it mainly for noise cancelling and comfort during travelling - something that Bose does the best in the market.

I always put on “A day in the life” by the Beatles.

It’s got orchestra, contrasting vocals, big drum rolls and a killer crescendo.

It’s pretty much perfect to test any headphones, speakers etc.
