Cool, I really don't need one of these but that's never stopped me before.

    • +1

It looks like we have picked up a humourless (profanity) sometime in the past few days.

  • Very good item. Same price on eBay.

  • +1

Where do you enter the code?

    • you need to register first

  • cant use on humans?

    • +2

i'm pretty sure you will be dead if you measure -50 or 360 deg c

    • of course you can.
      Why do you ask?

These are great for so many things.
Check oven temp, find where heat is leaking in/out of your home, science stuff, …

        • Point up and click to the sky and reads -18 degrees !!
Point down and click to the grass and reads 17 degrees !!

          Science!!!!!!

    • +9

Not really. Accuracy is too low at 1.5 degrees. It could read 36.5 when you actually have fever at 38, or the other way around.

  • +2

Can this be used for cooking purposes? e.g. to measure oil temperature

    • +5

Yes, that's exactly how I use it, very convenient.

    • +10

Yes, but keep in mind the limitations of IR thermometers. Typical basic ones are calibrated for an emmisivity of 0.95 which is close to an ideal black body radiator (e.g. something matte black). If you point it at a shiny metal pan, the reading is going to be incorrect.

  • I tried this with human but got the error message.

    • +1

If you pay a little more you could get a human of higher quality.

  • +5

Got one, not sure why, but I imagine my son and I testing various objects to see their temperature for a day.

    • +4

Use it on your son. Tell him research has found that when people lie their temperatures rise ;-)

      • Excellent

      • Then when he turns it back on you and you read normal, he'll know you're telling the truth.
        Yeah.

  • Now need a deal for a cheap reptile - goanna or lace monitor will do

  • +2

Coupon isn't adding on Chrome on Android. I can add any text and don't even get an error message. :-(

Edit: got it to work by first selecting pay by credit card and then changing to PayPal.

  • Strange PayPal charged me 10 aud

    • In my case system added shipping insurance on top by default… which I then removed to get this price.

  • Thanks OP!

  • Great tool if you don’t like sticking thermometer in your orifices

    • +1

Is this one too big to go in?

  • Awesome I missed out on the last one on here grabbed one this time:)

  • Thanks OP. Was on my wishlist for a while now. Decent price.

  • Accuracy +- 1.5 deg C? not very accurate, is it?

    • +2

Nope. It's also $8. Decent toy I guess?

    • Accurate for an oven or freezer.
Obviously not intended as a clinical thermometer.
