BOSE SoundWear $399.20/$374.25 @ Avgreatbuys eBay/eBay Plus

20
PROXY

So.. I was looking at Sony headphone reviews because of the JB 40% OFF… Then looked at the LG Tone Studios.. Then ended up here with these…

I think these are the best prices in the world?
Local prices are all $499AUD from every store and Amazon US RRP is $299USD so if you consider shipping/forwarder/10% import tax/local warranty/free shipping, this is a pretty good?

Maybe useful for replacing phone speakers, driving or outdoor workers etc

Please tell me these aren't going to become a thing.

People making calls and/or playing music through loud speaker in public is bad enough.

    Australia, you're better than this.

These are perfect when you are home and you want to crank the volume without bothering others in the same house. The speakers are angled at your ears so it’s loud to your ears but not others.

They are speakers not headphones. There is nothing stopping someone from using other speakers in public.

      • Yeah I've seen kids use phone speakers on a bus…
At least if these are near their ears, they won't turn it up as loud.

    • Please tell me these aren’t going to become a thing.

These are the new selfie stick. Just another way people will use their space to annoy the crap out of other people around them.

Can’t wait till this fad runs its course as well…

  • I have a pair of these.
I was skeptical at first until I had I chance to try it in person.
it’s amazing the way it immerses you in the music without sealing you off from the world.
I can wear these all day without any discomfort.
The bass response on them are also good. I sometimes use it as a stand-alone speaker on a tabletop when streaming on the laptop.

Also useful for getting bashed on the train :D

    • More like stolen IMO, so be wise with how you use it.

  • jb had the wh1000xm2 for 499 before the 40% off sale but now they dont have it :(

    • Wh1000xm2, whh900n and ps4 gaming headsets were excluded from the 40% off

If I have to listen to some jackass on a train listening to their shit music on blast on these things, I'll force feed them to them.

    • Some will… But useful in other aspects.
I've seen kids turn their phones max volume on a bus before… at least we can get some better sound than what their phone can generate.

I don't get why people think the use case is people walking around in public. It's essentially a wearable bluetooth speaker; bluetooth speakers have had clips on them for years to put on your bag, jacket etc. While there are a few people using them in public spaces to listen to personal music, it's hardly an epidemic.

I have had a pair of LG tone studios since release and while they are far from perfect, they are good at a few things. I use them at home 99% of the time, with a rare "oh I forgot I have these on and I'll just use the buds" trip outside. It's an early gen product; sound kinda sucks, but really work well for being around home and being able to hear, well, anything. Door bell, knock on door, baby crying, dog barking, etc. I wear them a lot which watching TV (I use roku private listening to cast the sound to my phone) and it works great. Headphones don't really work in this scenario, and it's easier when doing housework to quickly turn down sound if I hear a sound vs try to find TV remote.

I've tried the JBL and the Bose as well. The tone has the buds, which can be handy if you don't want to swap to buds and are cheaper. The JBL is middling all around; I'd either go cheaper for the Tones or upgrade to the Bose. The Bose have the best sound by far; it's not even close. It's not as good as a good set of headphones, but are the best in class.

I've been thinking of an upgrade; I might just do it. If you need thumping bass, these aren't for you, but they are worth a listen if you come across them. They are not for everyone, but if you have a similar use case, they would rock.

    • Yeah I can think of scenarios like bikers, construction workers, couriers, and giving it to my dad sooner or later where his work requires awareness around his surroundings etc but can still listen to the news.

I'll probably use it in my car in the meantime, cause my car is old with no connection to modern tech, and headphones arn't particular safe to wear there.

I've already got 3 Bluetooth headphones, they work well but it's not something I could use in a workplace or being too fatiguing at times, so thought I'd try something new.

  • I got the cheaper jbl soundgear. Tried the Bose however sound stage and bass didnt seem as good the mids are better on the Bose. I’m waiting to get the Sony SRS-WS1 but currently only available in Japan or from 3rd party sellers in the USA at almost $600. Apparently they are the pick of the bunch. These are soo good for home, in the car or home and watching a movie alone

    • Yeah I saw those too but pricewise… Argh.

It's not something I could wear outside, and my indoor home speakers are already better.
