Jason Plush Heated Throw Electric Blanket $25 (Normally $50) @ Woolworths

2040

Winter chill in your bones, but too concerned about electricity prices to use a fan heater?

May I submit for your approval, the electric throw. Really good price, even cheaper than the earlier Aldi deal which was quite popular, and an excellent choice if you're looking to pad out an online order to take advantage of the recent cashback deals. It works great to wrap yourself up in while your binging on netflix or using the computer, comes in very handy when traveling, and best of all uses next to no power.

For calculation purposes, these use around 100W per hour on max setting. At an average electricity price of 25c/kw, that is 2.5c per hour to run. You could literally sit in one all day and cook yourself for less than the cost of a glass of milk.

The other great thing about them is they have a timer built in, so you don't risk people leaving them on for days at a time. Truly a fantastic product.

Woolworths has a whole bunch of winter heating items discounted to 50% atm. I won't get into the heaters, but the electric blankets are worth listing.

Single - $17.50
Double - $22.50
Queen - $24.50

The heated throw also comes in grey for anyone who doesn't like blue.

  • 4 throws at Woolworth's Fairfield, none in cabramatta. That's new.

Thanks op, nice and cosy now.

  • Would something like this be okay for a cat to sleep on? Mine are insisting on sleeping ontop of me as though im their own personal hot water bottle, which can get a bit uncomfortable. But heated cat beds seem to be quite expensive.

  • Picked up the last one (Navy) from Woolies The Glen. Tried tonight and decided to return it. It is a little bit small and the cable is not very long.

    • It is a little bit small and the cable is not very long.

      Would you know the dimensions?

      There's a 1.2m x 1.6m one from kmart for $35

      • It is 160 x 130 cm.

        • Did you have any issues returning it, since it was opened?

        • @orbz:
          it's a zip bag

most likely went back on shelf for next buyer shagging a used blanket by tianyujojo

  • Never used one of these do they go on top of your blanket or between or under the person using it.

I think I remember reading something about not using these under yourself only over.

Can definitely see this being useful in the blue mountains where it can get pretty chilly in winter time aka now.

    • On top of person/dog wanting warmth :)

  • Finally tracked one down but it's too small for my liking.

  • Thanks got one at my local Woolies - they seem to take a while to warm up just trying it out the first time

  • Ordered one yesterday for Woolies Brickworks in SA and got an email saying that there's non left in stock and a refund back into my account :(

  • Smh my order was cancelled.
    Anyone know of another alternative?

  • My order from yesterday was also cancelled. Looks to be unavailable online now.

  • Just wondering if anyone’s found any in Tuggeranong/Woden area in the ACT? Erindale is our closest. I was given one last winter (different brand but same thing) and I used it so much it died at the end of the season!

    • None anywhere. Got the last from Mawson.

For anyone who managed to click and collect their order…did you get charged $1 for a crappy plastic bag?

    • Yes, but since my order was out of stock I was refunded the purchase price and the $1 mandatory plastic bag charge.

      • This is just a tougher version of the bags they have banned…it's not even the 15c ones you use in store! On the other hand, the throw is awesome!!!! Sooo warm!

  • I'll buy someones unwanted blanket! PM me

    • I'll swap mine for a Samsung S8 OR Google Pixel 2 :-)

  • none left in 4 stores in SA.
    Mount Barker
    Mount Gambier
    Arkaba
    Unley

    tragedy has struck me.
shame there isnt an online stock check

  • Looks like you can still order if you use a mobile device. If you check on a pc, it'll say its unavailable.

  • Do these actually have a timer. I bought one and its on/off and temperature control only as far as I can tell…

    • No timer but it Auto turns off after I believe 2 or 3 hours……check the manual it notes the time there.

  • This is not available anymore anyone have any other good sources or recommendations?

I saw some on eBay but a bit hesitant to buy unless somebody can confirm their safety and washability and overall comfort level and quality compared to some others.

      • Thanks mate how is it going so far.. Still deliberating whether I need it as I would only just it mac for a few weeks out of the whole year so maybe a good warm shower then straight under two layers of blanket move be a safer and better idea. Also still on the fence on the reliability of these if I accidentally put all of my 110-115kg Mac weight on it accidentally. Don't want a wake up shock in the middle of the night.. I get enough from crazy housemates already thank you very much.

        • Not designed for sleeping with in bed. Grab an electric blanket for that. These are more a lap blanket for the coach :-)

        • We only use ours as a throw for watching TV/reading. It’s really good, and I find myself not turning the heater on. Had it for a couple of months and it’s very sturdy. I honestly recommend getting it. It’s good for warming you up on a cold night. The heat settings are great. It warms up in minutes and I only run it on the lowest settings once it’s warm. Haven’t tried washing it yet, but I think it will be fine.

[@Chickin] +1 for not needing the heater on. I turn heater off once I have blown out the icy cold air from room. In turn has paid for the Blanket in a short period as running a 2400watt heater is expensive. Heater now only gets turned on for 1 hour and not the usual 5hrs. These are great as a lap blanket (as long as friends are not over!). All I need then is a Tartan colored one and can look like my old granny!
