  Hard copy, so 1990's
  I used to collect electronics catalogs.
  Dick Smith, Altronics, Jaycar, Farnell (like a phonebook)

  Just used to flick through them many times just too look at to see what components are out there. Then the Internet came around.

  Just download a copy, save driving to the one store around….
