Pity the LG Neochef has increased the price from 235 to 279 :(

    • Good microwave. I got one for $225 at Betta Electrical a few months back.

Canon Pixma Home MG2560 Multifunction Printer - $19, was $49

It says $29 for me, https://www.harveynorman.com.au/canon-pixma-home-mg2560-all-… . Am I looking at the wrong page?

Here's our opportunity to refuse to purchase anything from Gerry so we can make our feelings felt about his stuffing up our Amazon US purchasing!

    • +16

In reality, OzBargainers are like cheap whores, they are willing to jump into bed with Gerry if he offers good bargains here XD

      • If I ever use the eBay price guarantee, it will be to stop myself from ever giving that asshat a dollar of mine.

        • Yeah but he is our Asshat, a bloody Australian Asshat…

        • @subydooby:

          Every country has one.

Actually, I think that eBay guarantee requires me to purchase the item from HN to begin with. So scrub that idea. But the hat comment remains valid.

      • OzBargainers are like cheap whores

I am a bargain whore, but I will never stoop to buying from HN. Even whores have their limits.

I'll either be using HN to price match elsewhere, or wait till another retailer has the item I want on sale.

Gerry has gone from laughing off Amazon and eBay to now mentioning that if it was up to him, he would ban them.

I hope I live to see the day that this arsehole goes broke…

        • +1

On the flipside, he does employ alot of Australians right throughout the Harvey Norman, Domayne and Joyce Mayne groups. If these stores were to close down, many workers, contractors and cleaners would be out of a job, to online behemoths like ebay and amazon. Some of their staff members have been working for them for a decade or more. Just sayin. There is always another point of view.

        • +1

@nortyjak: And on the flipside of that if Gerry was to piss off then it would leave a gap in the market that new stores or existing smaller stores could fill.

    • +1

Would that really make any difference though? He got his way and the majority of people don't care and will continue buying and making them profits. A few of us refusing to buy from them won't make any difference whatsoever. It's the game pre-order boycott farce all over again, zero difference.

Those Logitech Z623 speakers are a good deal at $147. Would me paying $198 for them at JBHifi really make any difference to his bottom line?

    • +7

Just click HIDE - no more HN deals, no more complaints🚫

    • +1

Fairly certain he was not the only one pushing for the tax. I hope you're not buying from any other retailer that petitioned with him?

On the other hand, many Amazon US products are now selling through the AU site with free shipping on prime. Not such a disastrous outcome imho.

      Boycott Gerry!!!

Agreed. Not one cent given to Gerry.

      I hope Amazon buries them.

    • What happened to promoting open markets?

      • Gerry Harvey doesn't want an open market, he wants to corner the market.

  • Are those AKAI tv’s any good? Or is there better out there for this price?

    • Haven't seen AKAI branded TV's since the days of PYE, AWA, Astor and National brands. Impostor grey market crap imported by Jerry Normamnn

    • Akai 65” is $795 as of yesterday.

  • WD Elements 3TB Portable Hard Drive - $99, was $139

    What's the link for this?

    • Was $99 previous one day sale. Probably only advertised in store as I also can't see it listed anywhere.

  • Sadly spending awhile searching for things in the links - and the prices don't align to prices posted. Eg only can find one akai tv and not the 3 sizes mentioned

  • they were selling s7 for $999 wtf

    • It's all Amazon's fault!! Expensive race horses don't pay for themselves…

  • Is the hn amex deal is working?

    • It expired on 30/6

  • No, Harvey, no.

  • No thanks Gerry

  • Simpson 4KG Clothes Dryer - $198

This is still $297 on the website; checked with online chat and they confirmed it wasn't part of the sale

  • Just scored a 16Gb mSD $7 in Innisfail - thanks OP.

  • In an interview in 2008 Gerry Harvey described giving charity to the homeless as "a waste", and said that it was "helping a whole heap of no-hopers to survive for no good reason".

    • +1

Of course the only "good reason" for Gerry was, is, and always will be - to spend money in his stores💰

Laissez-faire Capitalism without care. Social Darwinism. There are quite a few people who strongly believe in what he said. Most don't voice it so bluntly.

I hate to say it, but Gerry may be sort of right, but for the wrong reasons. (I ran a support & housing group providing assistance & work to people without homes. It was funded by my social business.) Even leaders of indigenous communities would tell me welfare was the worst thing that happened for them.

Simply throwing money to people with little & little hope, rarely improves their lot. It's far more complex (mental & other health support, housing & tax policies, town planning changes, transport, jobs, general support, training, different experiences away from destroying influences, building resilient community & social networks,…).
It's probably better to attempt to prevent the problem, with the Dunedin Study giving guidance there.

So with Gerry, like business lobby groups trying to reduce spending on welfare & aid, the motivation is simple self-interest to lower their taxes & costs. It's just justified as economics & ideology. And in the best interests of shareholders!
      (But we all do that.)

And we all filter what we read & hear though our own ideological filters of our own experiences & upbringing. So what I say, or Gerry says may be misinterpreted. I've given an interview that was totally misrepresented later in print & walked out on another. What is presented in the media (including our own social media) may not represent the far more complex picture of who we are.
It is all spin to benefit someone.

      Now back to trashing Gerry😀
