  • Very light for the size!

      no it's not,

      Weight: 2.6kg (w/ 6-cell battery)

  • looks decent for games, and 2 year warranty is a plus.

  • can this play starcraft 2 ?

    • If you turn the graphics settings down enough, yes.

Don't get your hopes up, the graphics card is equivalent to a ~$40 PC graphics card.

im noob at laptops, but cant you get a decent i5 lappy for that price..?

    • +2

It'll certainly put you in the i3 ballpark, and not a lot more (under $100) gets you well and truly into i5 territory nowadays! ;)

  • It seems very well priced so a definite bargain. I think it can get 6500 score in 3DMark06 which isn't bad for a notebook, especially at this price.

  • +1

doesn't seem like that great specs wise, i would be spending a little more and getting an i5 (perhaps the non sandy bridge models which are on clearance at the moment for not much more)

    • Agreed.. There are i5's with dedicated graphics for not much more at the moment.
In fact there was an Acer posted just yesterday I reckon for the same price after cashback. Correction, no dedicated graphics on that one, but it's the only thing "missing".

      • It is actually not "only". The dedicated graphics can make huge difference on price.

Read again, the acer has a intel HD graphics card, passmark 326 vs 377 for this one. The graphic cards seem in the same ball park to me.

  • that's why i thought this was a decent deal for under $500

because most of the other laptops I see at this price range; the graphics cards are usually always inbuilt

and graphics cards is the one thing you can't replace in laptops…

  • Cheap, but i would not recommend anyone buying less than i3 atm, this is old gen tech.

    • Totally agreed. You should really spend the additional $100 to get an i3.

  • Overall I'd say it's a decent laptop at a decent price, but that RRP would be a rip off. Realistically this laptop should RRP for around $699 - $799?

Not a negative, not a positive.

IMO go for an i3 or i5 these days.
