    Ouch only 1080p

    • +8

I usually get downvoted when I comment the same thing. I think maybe for gaming it’s fine but windows in 1080p at 27 inch is not cool.

      • +2

Not really fine for anything. That DPI is simply too low unless you sit really far back or have poor eyesight.
Will no doubt also be downvoted by all the old-timers.

        • +3

Yeah. 24 is the limit for 1080p, anything more and its just a bit crap.

        • @Pacify:

Where were you guys last time I said this? HUGZ

      • +2

Me too, so here's a upvote lol. My old monitor was 27" @ 1080p and I wouldn't reccomend that size & resolution when you're sitting that close. It's not great for anything.

      • My old Asus is 27 inch, 1920x1200 resolution. I would definitely not go any lower resolution at that size.

Also, I wish more manufacturers would make 16:10 monitors.

    • +8

It's funny how you get plusvoted and yet the others who basically said the same get downvoted. Some Ozbargainers are idiots.

      • Interesting that that no-one has commented to defend the resolution, they just downvote.

I got negged into oblivion last week for saying this on a 27" 1080p deal…

    • +1

Yep, much rather have the 2k Viewsonic VA2719 for only a little more

    • -1

      Yeah what the actual f'uck?

27" and 1080p. Complete crock of shit.

      • Chill bro.

        • Actually, I think it's a perfectly acceptable reaction. We're living in 2018 where 4K is quickly becoming the norm - yet we as consumers are tolerating 27" monitors which still have 1080p? Nah fam.

  • +1

I have the 25er, Which is a better option as they both have the same resolution.

    • I hope that was question rather than statement ;-)
Both have same specifications - https://www.productchart.com/monitors/9790_vs_11437

The only difference found in HP forum is :

I had looked at the two models myself recently and the only difference is the backside color.
The back of HP27es is black, HP27er is white - that's it, everything else is the same.
      Hope that helps.

Is your HP25er back is white ?

      • +3

He's talking about the fact that the 25er is 25 inch instead of 27 inch, so has more pixels fer inch (PPI). At 27 inch or above you really want 1440p for greater PPI.

  • +1

Note - no VESA mount. Also I personally don't really like monitors in any other colour aside from black. Not a bad deal for a 27 inch IPS otherwise.

I would rather buy and support from smaller retailer group than buying from Harvey Norman for anything.

    • +3

I’d rather buy from literally anybody else

      • -2

Yeah. I too prefer five finger discounts!

        Arghhh me hearties!

  • +28

Harvey Norman should be blacklisted because of the "Gerry Harvey tax" - this greedy prick is responsible the GST on small overseas purchases.

  • Dell Monitors are much better in terms of connectivity.

    Want a decent price on the HP 27" IPS 1440p Z27n G2 :(

  • what do i need to connect my macbook pro to this?

    • Depending on which MacBook Pro you have:

      1. If you have the older generation MacBook Pro (before 2016), then you can simply use a HDMI cable.
      2. If you have the newer generation MacBook Pro (2016 and after), then you would need a USB-C dongle with HDMI video output, and a HDMI cable.

Note: if you have a USB-C dock with HDMI, it may work as well, but I have only tried the aforementioned options.

      • thanks! i have a 2015 MacBook Pro. does the quality of HDMI cable matter or will any do?

        • +1

Well, the HDMI cable shouldn't matter that much if it is only 1080p.
Personally I use the stock ones that come with my monitors and ps4.

https://www.harveynorman.com.au/acer-27-inch-aspire-vg270-ip… might be a better deal for $1 less. VESA mount. 1ms and 75hz refresh rate. Also looks better imo.

    • This is a great find!

  • +6

    Nice try Gerry.

    This has NO VESA Mount
1080p is NOT GOOD enough for 27"
We will NOT be buying his off you when we can buy better screens online despite your new tax.
Idonotknowwhy says NO MORE to scammers like Gerry Harvey!

    • YES Dear leader Kim…. I will probably get tied to a rocket and shot into the stratosphere for this.

    • Gerry didn’t design the specs of this monitor.

      • +2

How do you know that? Are you Gerry?

        • At his age, he must be more concerned about the design of his coffin rather than the design of the monitor.

  • I have been using one of these for around 18 months. Good monitor, though yeah 1080p is a bit low for this size at times. Movies still look great, and most games look fine apart from occasional screen tearing

  • +4

Please choose not to put $ into Gerry Harvey's pocket, since he whinged until the government stole $ out of ours. Hitting the greedy buffoon in the wallet, is the only way to ensure he keeps his trap shut next time.

  • +2

Viewsonic has 27" 1440p IPS with dp + vesa + usb hub for 299$ and using it as my secondary monitor.

    • thanks mate, i was able to find the monitor you were talking about. The price point is awesome. Glad I skipped this stupid monitor

  • +1

Gerry can keep all his overpriced rubbish. Not buying anything from him since he pushed for GST on personal imports.
