  • Interesting… Where to learn Blockly code?

    • Hi Salient

The app that goes with this robot teaches Blocky. Young kids catch on quite quickly.

      • What about fully grown kids?

        • +1

Now, i can’t speak for all us adults but anyone who has got a tiny bit of patience and an iPad will have fun building and teaching the robot to move :)

  • Why did the store get only 98% good feedback?

    • +3

      Hi wtfnodeal

If you check the feedback, you can see the story behind the one negative comment we have received. The buyer was not satified in getting their package with one day to spare… I guess you can’t satisfy everyone all the time - even when you have done everything expected of you :)

      • +7

I guess you can’t satisfy everyone all the time - even when you have done everything expected of you :)

Same excuse doesn't seem to work with the wife.

        • +6

There is a good chance you haven't done what is expected of you which is quite difficult when they don't tell you what that is.

        • +8

@whitty: you're meant to develop the ability to read minds.

  • +2

    What a deal. Thanks op.

    • +1

      Hi akula

It is a great deal - a really great xmas present!

      • +1

        Great deal. Got one too.

      • +1

I've been checking these out, it is a really good price and most likely below cost. You got them at a liquidation sale or something?

        • They were purchased direct from UBTech - they are this price to clear - to make some room in the warehouse

        • @techplayground:
I see, I guess from the overwhelming response you don't have to discount so heavily to clear them out. (learn from toys r us, 5% off lego lol) Thanks for bringing up this great deal, good job!:)

  • +1

    https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1282172-REG/ubtech_jr…

    $318 (including shipping)

Still a great price - just RRP perhaps a little ambitious.

    • The RRP is set by the manufacturer in each region and $599 is correct for Australia.

      • +8

I am about to order one…( to make clear that I think it is a good price)
I see you are new to ozbargain - a word of caution - RRP's don't go down so well here - we generally want to compare the current "bargain" price with the previous/usual price or what we would pay for it elsewhere..

Just thought I would share a friendly word of caution.

Otherwise - welcome to ozbargain and great 1st deal!!

      • -4

No store has every sold at RRP
No consumer has every bought at RRP

Normal price for this is $350

        • +6

Bit of an exaggeration. Plenty of people buy plenty of products at RRP. Just not us.

        • Nintendo Classic Console?

    • 280 USD is approx 380 AUD not including shipping.

      • you're absolutely right - thought I had switched it over - my point still stands though
(though it makes this deal look even better)
thanks for picking that one up!

    • $399.99 USD on the Ubtech website https://ubtrobot.com/products/inventor-kit

So $139 delivered looks a decent price for this kit and something to see if your kid is interested in it without spending too much.

My kids have been using Lego Mindstorms at school, but not sure how this compares.

    • +1

isn't that USD? RRP on amazon is $399USD which is around $538AUD and amazon is currently selling on special for $280USD=$378AUD. This is a great price.

  • Thanks, ordered one. Hope my mathematically-inclined 6-year-old will like it.

  • are there any amazon coupons going around?
    amazon20 just expired!

    • +1

amazon20 was only valid for orders sold and shipped by amazon. Not for 3rd party sellers.

  • +1

    Purchased one. Thanks

  • +3

Got one thanks,, Thanks OP,,, let me think is this for me or for my kid :)

  • +1

Tempting, though already have a Dash and Lego Boost for the kids and they don't use them as much as I'd like…

From the looks of it, this is Lego Technic compatible?

  • +3

Was I ever planning to buy one? No. Did I buy one? Yes. Why? It’s too late to think about it now.

  • -3

can I have one for free just coz I was the first one to ask?

  • +2

My daughter is 2.5 years. Is she too young? Or maybe I can get it for myself first, and when she’s ready, I’ll teach her. Will that excuse get me past my wife for this purchase? ;)

    • why not

    • Get them into this stuff at early age.. i bought my daughter xbox she was 1 and my son a ps4 when he was born…😀😀

  • +2

    Looks great. Bought!
Would have preferred some of the more colourful JIMU Robotic kits, but for a huge discount - why not.

ps. another thing I don't 'need', but the Ozbargainer in me is strong ……

  • +1

Got one, thanks for this. Hopefully this buys my wife some peace and quiet during the school holidays and keeps my 13yo busy :)

    • Don't think you will get it in time for this school holiday?

    • +2

I’ll be dispatching monday/tuesday so depending where you live, you will get this week - so you may get a weeks worth of school holidays out of the robot :)

      • thats plenty thank you!

      • Where are you posting from? Just trying to guesstimate the delivery time to Brisbane.

        Thank you!

  • Cool, got one - the video of the dancing robot in one of reviews on amazon US is quite good! Reminds one of those Boston Dynamics videos.

  • +2

Couldn't find the warranty period ?

    • Standard australian consumer guarantee applies

  • +1

Legendary deal,’ordered one and used cash rewards for 5% cashback. Note with Amazon you need to email copy of delivery receipt at the moment. Total cost $132.05

    • It says tax invoice? Looks like have to wait longer

      • Yeah. Is it just me that think emailing them tax invoice with evry single detail of what we have bought from amazon is a bit lack of privacy? Or if tracked they would know what we are buying anyway?

    • On dispatch i can send you a tax invoice (either tomorrow or tuesday) - just send me a message through amazon :)

  • Got one, thanks op

  • Thanks, just bought one. Was about to buy a BB-8 but think this is better.

  • +1

    thanks OP!

  • +1

    Hi everyone

We are sold out! The response was overwhelming :)

    • get some more! haha

    • I was one of the first to purchase. Please provide more great deals like this! Thank you.

  • +1

I got the last one. Cheers OP.

  • Sold out? no buying options showed

  • yea same here all gone i guess

  • +2

Hi Op any possibility for more stock ?

    • +2

Unfortunately that model is sold out with no possibility of more stock. There is a different model available that hasn’t as many pieces for $99 (suits younger kids) - it usually retails for $199. I was going to post the deal next week - here it is on our store: https://www.techplayground.com/product/ubtech-jimu-explorer-…

      • +3

you should do that as a separate post rep

and well done for being around to provide feedback / comments!

        • +2

at least this rep is alive.. :)

        • +1

Unfortunately can only post 1 deal every 24 hours so can’t post until later tonight… but i’m going to be a very busy bee tomorrow getting these robots out :) so wanted to give myself some breathing room…

      • Hi techpg. Any sale on this model as well? Or not one you stock?

  • Bahh I was too slow.

  • please bring in more stock

  • Yes op.. please bring in more stock !

  • mate i ran to my computer as soon as i saw and just missed out, please bring more this would make an incredible gift

  • Anyone who managed to get one want to sell it to me for a tad more? ;(

Want to use in the classroom.

    • Hi Tacosaurus Rex

If you want something this week without the hassle of trying to negotiate with someone, I am able to offer a similar robot (it is slightly cheaper - $99) it just has less pieces, but works in the same way - it is located on our regular website (not amazon): https://www.techplayground.com/product/ubtech-jimu-explorer-… - it was last priced at $199 so you save $100.

      • How many pieces?

        • 372 pieces

      • Will this set go well with the one posted to build a bigger robot?

        • i don’t believe they can be combined as the design of the pieces are different

        • @techplayground: Any OzBargain special available? :)

  • Wow. I’m disappointed I missed this. My 6 year old daughter loved the lego boost kit and I was looking for something with a bit more power. This would have been great. Oh well, I guess i’ll wait or the next bargain :)

    • I would've liked to have bagged one of these too.

I haven't played with LEGO boost, but LEGO Mindstorms is a great kit for kids who are into LEGO. Wait for Myer to have another 20% off LEGO sale.

      • Wouldn't Mindstorms be really expensive compared to something like this?

        • Best price I could get for mindstorms was using 10% off at ebay and got it for $360

        • $139 delivered isn't the normal price for this either.

        • +1

          @xuqi:
FYI I bought the cheaper UBTech Jimu Explorer kit the OP also sells for $99. Probably better for the 6 year old anyway.
I ordered online on Sunday night and the order arrived today.
          Impressive for free delivery.
They also threw in an spare servo motor.
Thanks OP, let me know if the inventor kit comes back in stock.
          Happy customer :-)

  • Can these do battle bots?

    • Lol. You could set them on a collision course and see which one falls over first… I wouldn't expect an impressive battle though.

    • It'll make a great one hit wonder, where you're tapped once by the opponent leaving you wondering where your $ went!

  • +1

just got an email from op saying they're unable to fulfill & offering smaller robots in place. i think i purchased pretty early on, so am guessing there's going to be quite a few affected. not fussed, but am noticing this overselling happening more and more on here.

    • +1

Same here, considering I had my order in around 6am I’m incredibly annoyed to say the least. The offer of a robot designed for 6 year olds is a joke.

      • +1

        6.15am to be precise

        • Just got mine, no longer unhappy!

    • +1

Also got the same email. Didnt take them up on their offer.

    • I ordered ard 4am and received it today.

  • Arrived today. Thanks so much for the bonus servo motor and keyring.

  • +1

    more stock please

  • -2

    Very very dodgy operator
No advised that the ordercant be fulfilled
I was one of the first to buy
Now I have to tell the kids we are not getting any
    So sad and angry

    • So disappointed by this..

  • Got mine today. Very happy. It came with an extra servo motor. Thanks!

  • Got mine today (ordered just past midnight WST) with the bonus as well, thank you.

  • Got mine, awesome stuff!

  • -1

Like others, my order got canceled too! Smells like the roboguy deals from the past.
