Jabra Evolve 75 $231.72 Delivered @ freeshippingtech eBay

PIZZAZZ

For the longest time now, I've been looking for a solution that has:

  • Over ear headphones
  • bluetooth
  • ANC
  • Exceptional mic quality

Finally came across these bad boys. This is a really good price for what they are.

Cheaper than QC35's by a long shot and somewhat comparable (Both premium headphones brands with admittedly differing levels of ANC).

  • these are 'on-ear' not over

    • Sorry that's what I meant

      • Why do you specifically want on-ear?

        • I find them more comfortable.
Over-head was a definite requirement. After trying on a few pairs of overhead, I learned that on-ear tended to be more comfortable and less restrictive around the lower ear/neck area.

I know it sounds weird, but I guess it's just personal preference. Nonetheless, on-ear vs over-ear isn't a deal breaker.

  • Plantronics Backbeat Pro 2 would also fit your requirements and I find it more comfortable than the Jabra (yes, I have both).

    • They don't look like they have a mic or am I missing something?

Edit: Looks like they do, it's just built into the headset. The review I watched said the mic was a bit distant, did you find that?

      • Mic is built in to either side and they focus the pickup on what is in the middle. Boom mic will still be better in some circumstances (wind etc), but it works surprisingly well.

    • How does the Mic compare to the Jabra? I presume, not aswell. It's distant, and probably similar a pair of QC35.

      • If we say the Jabra is 10/10 for mic I'd say this Plantronics it 9.5/10, and the QC 35 is about 6/10. Jabra and Plantronics are headset companies, picking up voice is what they are best at, Bose are a headphone company, they focus on the speakers.

        • How would you rate the sound quality on all 3?

        • @fredblogs: I hate that sort of question since it's so subjective, but perhaps Bose QC35 10/10, Plantronics Backbeat Pro 2 9.5/10, Jabra Evolve 75 8/10.

I actually don't think the Bose is better than the Backbeat, but my brother does, most say Bose has slightly better noise cancelling than Backbeat. I find the Evolve 75 to be a bit flat for music.

And then you could try the Jabra Evolve 75e or the Plantronics Voyager 6200, if you want business grade earbuds with active noise cancelling.

  • I have a set of these issued by work and I don't think they are worth the money.

Coupled with a Surface Pro 4 the BT frequently drops out, the auto mute mechanism is finicky and the on/off switch seems to have a mind of its own. Just today I couldn't use it as it was in a loop of On & Off even with switch on On.

Not super comfy as they are on ear and the noise cancellation is meh IMO.

    • Thanks for the input.

They RRP over $450. I wasn't able to justify that, but could justify $230.

I prefer the on-ear style so not concerned by that.

And re: gimmicky and not good performance - That is odd. Haven't heard such review.

Will be interesting to see how it goes. Can always return if not as good as I thought

Thanks a lot for the review!!
