  • Unobtainable deal. Does not satisfy minimum spending requirement.

Yeah just realised.. updated the post

  • I remember in Feb 2015, I bought a 120GB MLC SSD from Gumtree (unopened) for 90$ (in-store price was ~115$). How time has changed…

    • I remember I sold 2*(brand new) 8GB DDR4 RAM on Gumtree for $90 in Dec 2016. How time has changed…

240gbOne here for $51 - ebay plus members using PLUS15

  • Cheeky Shallothead, I had it in my basket yesterday at $30 and it magically went up to $35, as I entered my code.

    • Yeah they price jacked when the plus15 deal started. Will wait til deal passes and goes back down to 30. Will be cheaper using pull5 code then

  • You gotta be quick with these sorts of deals :)

  • cheers OP :)

  • Bought one of these and a SD card from here

plus another item for a couple of dollars and used PLUS15 for 15% off. Not bad.

Just to say it again - these are insanely slow. Do not use these as a boot drive. The mixed IO speeds are seriously lower than some HDDs.

    • What one can you recommend as a boot drive that's the closet in price?

Minimum you'll need to spend for an actual decent SSD is around $70-80 for 128GB, but at that point deals like the current 500GB for $135 (860 Evo / MX500) start looking more attractive.

Personally I stick to the Samsung SSDs (850/860 Evo for SATA), Cruicial MX500*, Intel SSDs, and a few unknown OEM brands (ie HP/Lenovo include decent SSDs in their products - if I can find a supplier ever, those are usually cheap).

*MX300 is quite below average in benchmarks. Kingston SSDs I've had fail on me and are quite slow.

        • Thanks for the feedback, will look to purchasing one of these SSD's instead of the WD.

          Bet me to it lol

      • If you have M.2 support this was just posted recently. All the benchmarks I can find show it's not a premium top tier product, but seems to keep up okay - a lot better than the budget SATA SSDs.

      • https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/386831 Another option if you need SATA…. Otherwise for M.2 the earlier link is now $38 for 128GB.
