Maybe that's because you only watch english speaking channels. My parents have satellite tv, and they get hundreds of free channels in foreign languages.
Hmmm not much nice channels on the Ku Band. Can get a C Band 2m ish one off ebay with a similar kit, which has ALOT more and better channels.
You can also get a Dual LNB to be able to receive more channels however there are lots of various good channels from different countries

Can someone link a rough guide of what channels would be available?
To my knowledge there are hundreds of them from all over I also believe that www.lengsat.com is a good source as a guide for lots of info on satellite systems and the like
correct ur url it can not be lengsat.com
You can easily buy the parts separately and pay less than $200(ebay, local stores etc.)
I have done it for my house and 2 friends a couple of months ago.
e.g. just a quick search: http://tinyurl.com/4w3xwkl $181 shipped!(see description,$111 + $70 for the FTA receiver)
P.S. i don't think you need to pay $90 for :
Satellite Finder and Strength Meter
Cable Stripping Tool
Compass
1x Installation DVD
Exactly. Crimping tool is also fairly useless as well. It would be easier
to supply screw in F tyle connectors.
I recently purchased a 10 pack of screw in f connectors from local satellite store for $2.
This is a small 65cm dish. 90cm would be better for australia. Unless your are receiving foxtel. since its signal is very strong.
Also not this is a fixed posittion satellite setup. It will only pickup one satellite at a time. In Astralia signals can be picked up from multiple satellites to get all the good KU band FTA channels.
As said earlier a motorised dula band KU/C band setup with a dish size of at least 2.3m would be the best setup for FTA in Australia.
Could someone give me a rough idea, so once you purchase and install this, you can receive many channels free without any subscription fee?
Also would this receive CCTV and Pheonix and otehr channels from HK/China?
You get all the CCTV channels. Phoenix, not sure, and stuff like TVB shows from HK you need a subscription.
How many channels do you get? well it depends on how many satellites and which satellites you tune it in to. My parent's setup has an arm that can move the dish, and they have it tuned to 5 satellites. There are hundreds of channels, but they're in all sorts of languages.
Yes you get Phoenix
I have a dish and cable, how much just for the receiver? also do you do the cards as well?
Does it give any asian channels?? I mean indian??what sort of antenna and reciever we need to use for that?
Yes many asian channels. Lots of Indian and Sri Lankan channels can be picked up. You need to buy a digital satellite receiver as opposed to your standard digital terrestial (TV) receiver.
If one of these vendors could give a definitive list of channels and options, then I think they would sell lots (if it is worth it!)
Just about everything good is encrypted on ku band, a few foreign language channels, home shopping, religious channel. You can get much much better tv with a decent Internet connection and a US VPN account.
any good IPTV servers ?
Ok price, not a lot of decent free to air stuff worth watching on the sats, maybe russia today, rotator is handy, but again, still not much worth watching.
