50YEARVINES

Vineyard: This wine is sourced from the Lesley Vineyard owned by the Osmond family and has vines dating back to 1846, some of the earliest in McLaren Vale. This wine is a single block Pinot Noir from the 'Clay Creek' block. The vines are 50 years old, a rarity for Pinot Noir in McLaren Vale. The long established vines make for great quality fruit.

Soils: The soils in this vineyard are deep aluvial clays from the Holocene era (11, 700 years old). This area would have been a flood plain that was first planted by settlers so the soils retained water and the vines grew well, even before Irrigation.

Harvest date:14 February 2024

Winemaking: After the short truck ride from the vineyard to the winery, the grapes were destemmed and chilled to 12˚ C at the crusher before a 24hr cold soak pre-fermentation. Cool ferment temperature allowed for bright fresh fruit flavour retention. Gentle treatment through cool ferment involved minimal 'handling' of the fruit, with oxygen injection into the ferment 3 times daily to keep the 'cap' wet and extract flavour, colour, and tannins from the skins. After 8 days ferment on skins, the wine was pressed to seasoned oak for 3 months before early bottling.

Nose: LIfted bright red berry fruits with elegant spicy notes.

Palate: Medium bodied palate shows generous cherry fruits with earthy spice. Soft oak tannins complement the fruit structure and give length to the finish. An approachable wine showing great generosity of varietal fruit flavour.

Cellaring: Drink now to 2029

Closure: Screwcap. Vegan.

Winemakers: Bec Hardy & Bec Swincer.

…Just great value wines at wholesale prices.

$12 a bottle is not wholesale price. Please correct the typo in the description to retail. Thanks

    • +2

@freeb1e4me You're correct. Wholesale price is actually $15.37 per bottle.
Happy for you to report any inaccuracy to the moderators. I'll abide by any decision they make. Cheers! RD :-)

Wholesale price is actually $15.37 per bottle.

So now you’re selling at below wholesale price. What are we to believe? Hopefully, the moderators will take a closer look at your regular use of the word wholesale.

          1. Yep, below wholesale. It is a deals website afterall.
          2. Believe what you wish.
          3. Happy, as always, to abide by any moderation. It is their website and I am merely a guest here :-)
            Cheers! RD :-)

    52% off Adelaide Pinot Noir 2024 $144

    No inflated discounts.

    That is Crap.

    https://web.archive.org/web/20240919174734/https://bechardy.…

$144 is what you normally sell this for…

    • Still pouting @jv?

Give it a rest. We’re too indifferent to your pettiness to be bothered helping you break your neg vote personal best, again…

  • -1

Oh afternoon @jv. Periodic promotion like most retailers It is a deals website afterall :-)

As I advised you the other day, report to the appropriate authorities, in this case the moderators, and I’ll abide by their decision.

    RD :-)

    • -2

      Periodic promotion

More like deceptive and misleading price comparisons which are against ACCC advertsing laws.

You may be misleading your customers if:
your product or service was not sold at the previous higher price for a 'reasonable period' before your sale

      • Always happy for you to report to the relevant authorities and allow them to take it up with us.
Three assertions you’ve made and not followed up on any yet.

        RD :-)

        • -1
          • @jv: As I keep reiterating to you if you are confident about one, two or all three of your positions, please go ahead and report to the relevant authorities. 👍

            • -2

              @RD ADL:

              report to the relevant authorities

or call it out and -ve the deal as per voting rules. 👍

              • @jv: Hahaha. All that just for that. Well that told me bahahaha.
Disappointed @jv that you’re not backing up your assertions of law breaking with the relevant authorities.

  • -3

    Periodic promotion…

You have 11 “deals” already in 2025 and it’s only mid February!

Imagine potentially selling wine unchecked at retail prices marketed at below wholesale prices on OzB since 2017. If the Adelaide news reporters got wind of this that could be brand/business destroying.

    • -4

      It’s a deals website bahahaha

As for The Tiser, you get in touch. I’ll be seeing them tomorrow at a function in Adelaide so it’d be timely!

I can also put you in touch with Sky News and CNN anchor friends if you wish and we’ll take it global!

      • -2

        bahahaha

        says a lot…

      • Wow, what an absolutely insufferable w**ker you're behaving like. Your ego is so fragile that random people stirring you up on a deals website induces name drop dick swinging? Come on, you flog cheap made for export plonk that you have to belittle people to purchase at $12/bottle.

        • -3

They need no help from me :-)

          • +2

@RD ADL: It's a decent enough product, I've no complaints from when I tried it a few years back, but your attitude towards those who disagrees is bizarre and it's completely turned me off ever buying again. Even the Google review responses to anyone who dares to report a subpar experience at the winery are next level. Paragraph after paragraph of absolute waffle. Chill out!

            • +1

@Ham Dragon: You'll not find anyone more chilled @Ham Dragon. :-)

  • Been waiting a while for the Pinots again! Grabbed a box, thanks.

Can’t see why people who have no interest in the deal feel the need to try and attack the OP or discredit the deal for no reason other than they are bored or have no other hobbies. I’ll be enjoying my Pinots instead.

    • +1

Thanks @avinit86 enjoy the vino! RD :-)

  • +1

Wow tough crowd today - somethings stirred up the cattle. Keep up the good work.

  • +1

Don't worry Richard, they're probably jealous or just s#@t stirring. If they were serious they would take it to ACCC or whomever else. Just need to refresh my popcorn supply now.

    • +2

@omblygombly Can you please make extra for the team who've been loving it! :-)

    • +1

jv must have run out of windows to lick, and I've got nfi what that other muppet is rambling about.

  • I haven't tried this particular wine so I won't comment on it, but I have tried a number of Bec Hardy wines before and they have been good. $12 a bottle for old vine Pinot is decent pricing.

    • -1

I've tried a couple of different Pinots from them and they were both great, I can't see this one being any different.

  • +3

Interesting how the 2 people who jumped on you are
    1) Ozb's most insufferable person, who must have no job and nothing to do except troll
    2) someone who seems to be posting negative things in every one of your postings in the past month or so

People need to understand that there is currently a glut of wine in Australia, and it really may get quite bad soon. Add to that, lower end wines just aren't selling as much as they used to. People are drinking less and buying better quality wine nowadays, hence the TWE sell off of their more budget brands.

If you don't like RD then just don't buy from him. But there is no doubt that the wines he's posting are good value and he does provide detail about the vineyards and winemaking. Similarly priced wines are often "Wine of South East Australia" and have absolutely no detail. I bet that if RD posted hugely inflated RRPs and hugely inflated discounts, the usual crowd would be fawning all over him.

Also bear in mind that Bec Hardy is a family owned business, not a corporation owned winery. And if you don't like RD, you can go and say it to his face.

    • +1

Clueless people seem to love brigading against mobs like Bec Hardy, even though how they advertise is well within the OzBargain rules, and it's unfortunate that it's resulted in a couple of places being chased off. Reps are allowed to advertise specials as long as it's not excessive (which RD doesn't do), the numbers freeb1e4me is rambling about appear to be within the guidelines. As for jv, they're averaging over 20 posts a day for the last 16 years, and all of it is utterly pointless.

I think it's hilarious how triggered they are due to RD's responses, I've chatted to him a couple of times at wine gigs and possibly at the cellar door, and it would be impossible to say mean things to his face, he's a great guy.

The wine is great, and the Pinot tends to sell out and disappear so the deal is pretty tempting.
