I bought one last month for 115.65 from DSE online :)
    Great phone.

DSE has had this for $89.50 on Three for a long time now.

The discount is to distract you from the fact it's on Three..

  • is this prepaid?
will it work with live connected SIM card ?

    • Hey mate,

It's a pre-paid kit, but by all means you're not locked to using Pre-Paid. Just ignore the included SIM card, and you'll be fine!

The Liveconnected SIm should work, but it might be best to give Optus a call and ask.

I am using optus locked phone with live connected. No problems

    • Wil work on the Optus network (any provider), so yes.

Think the normal unlocking rules apply, ie recharge $80 then it's free to unlock.

  • Does this phone have wifi and 3.5mm headphone jack?

    • Yes and yes.

So much phone for your money here. What great times we live in #tears up# /geek

Just get it on 3 for $89.95….

<Out of topic> but why people keep bashing 3 provider?
    Just curious that's all =)

    • It's a sinking ship and a brand that is being phased out by Vodafone. They have no coverage outside of the city, ridiculously high roaming fees, and unstable connection speeds. Or so I hear.

      • +4

I've been using 3 for nearly four years now. Never had any troubles with connections (calls and 3G), but have had friends on Optus (and TPG etc) complain a whole load about their service. Also they unlock their phones for free if you call them up (as far as I'm aware, on my phones at least).

Yep, I live in country victoria and have no problems with three (only because I don't use internet with them) I am always roming but since calls are done with telstra roaming at no extra costs, it's not a problem

        • 3's policy is to not sell devices to people who live in roaming areas, so this presents another problem.

edit: Yes, roaming fees apply to data only. I was once on 3, used it only for calls, and it was great. I some cases calls will roam onto Vodafone, if Telstra and 3 have no service in some areas.

        • Really? My Dad is in roaming (regional) area and he is on contract with 3 Mobile. Reception is great (much better than Optus) 'cos it uses Testra Next G network for calls. He doesn't use data roaming of course.

Also, I'm pretty sure his local AllPhones store sells 3 Mobile.

I'd also much rather be with 3 Mobile in the city (as I am and have been for 3 years) than with slow—slow Optus.

        • Stores outside of 3 coverages areas simply don't get sent 3 stock.

If you travel to the city, you might get lucky and get a staff member who doesn't care and wants some commission.

        • He ordered from 3 Mobile by telephone. They are aware he is in roaming zone.

        • Lucky him then?

I know when I ordered with 3, the guy filled in some crap on the form about how I worked in a 3 coverage area. I did not at the time.

It's pretty redundant to bash a mobile network's reliability, cause for every person who whinges about it's service, you'll find someone who says it works fine for them. It's relative. One person's dropout is another person's excuse to go make a sammich. One person using a Nokia is hearing static on their calls, yet another person in the same house on the same network using a Motorola has crystal clear reception. There's so many variables for bad phone service that you can't just blame it on 'coverage' and 'connection speeds'.

  • Heard this model can be unlocked with ease, asked local phone repair shop they said to bring it in with $30.00. (Dandenong- Cheltenham Rd Near Shell)

  • I am looking to buy this model for $89.50 on Three from DSE. Does anyone know which store has this on stock as apperently this is only available in sotre and i have tried few but no luck. The only reason I wanted to be on Three as most of my frieds are with them. Any help appreciated.

  • Does this phone have tethering? (Can I use it as a modem via bluetooth?)

  • -1

I wish iPhones were this cheap, then I'd upgrade my current one :P Good deal though, will dish out a +

  • just ordered one thanks op should work good with my liveconnected sim:)

  • All these people saying they can get it from DSE for $89.50 on 3 Mobile please tell us which branch it's available at or a link to the deal with stock available.

As far as I am aware they are a long time sold out at that price.

  • i got a returned one from dse about 1 year ago for $49 but its locked to the vodafone network. great priced phone since it has wifi but slow. Anyone know of any url links to get it unlocked?

Vodafone will unlock it for $25, not too bad.

      • +1

Correct, but FYI it's $75 if you unlock it within 6 months.

"A basic fee of $50 to unlock the device at any time, reduced to $25 if you obtain your unlock code using Vodafone's website at vodafone.com.au/unlock. Plus additional $50 to unlock your device within six months of purchase."

        • Yeah, my mistake, I only scanned through the website. Thanks.

  • Dick Smith also have this phone locked to Virgin Mobile for $109 - http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/37052
You can unlock it for free once you've recharged with at least $80 in total.
