[PC/Android) - Humble Software Bundle: Cybersecurity - $1US/$6US/$15US (~$1.35AUD/$8.07AUD/$20.18AUD) - Humble Bundle

250

The new Humble Bundle is here. This time it is not a game bundle but a software bundle focusing on cybersecurity.
As always there are three tiers.

Please check that the software you are interested in runs on your operating system and/or is for mobile devices as some software is only for Windows while other software is for all operating systems and also for Android.

In the $1 tier, the Private Internet Access might be useful for those of you who want to watch the World Cup via the BBC or another European broadcaster showing all the games. 1 month is enough until the end of the World Cup.

Tier 1: $1US:

  • System Mechanic (1 year license, new users only)
  • Private Internet Access - 1 month subscription (5 devices, new users only)
  • Proton Mail Plus $25 credit

Tier 2: $6US:

  • Prey Anti-Theft Pro (6 months subscription, 15 devices)
  • Vipre Advanced Security (1 year license, 1 device)
  • TrackOFF Standard (1 year license, 3 devices)

Tier 3: $15US:

  • Dashlane Premium (1 year subscription, new users only)
  • AdGuard Premium (1 year subscription, 4 devices)
  • Private Internet Access - 1 year (1 year subscription, 5 devices, new users only)
  • SpiderOak ONE Secure Cloud Backup (1 year license)

All New users only. That's going to limit the purchases so much

  • Howling do you have to activate the PIA 12month?

  • +2

I would have bought it for the 1 year of pia alone, but it's new users only :(

    • What do you mainly use pia for?

I am maybe thinking to use it for Netflix U.S. if I can figure out how somehow.. only getting Netflix AU atm and well everybody knows how much tha t sucks

      • I don't think it's ideal for netflix. The earlier windscribe deal may be better for that. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/382864
Of course netflix can always end up breaking on either service leaving you out of pocket.

      • I wouldn't choose PIA for netflix, they no longer support netflix and their servers get blacklisted very quickly. Other than that tho their speed has been great. Pretty much run everything through a VPN now.

        • What kind of stuff do you run if you don't mind sharing sorry kinda out of the loop with this stuff now.. Can take conversation to a pm if preferable.

What is good these days for Netflix or is it not possible anymore.

  • The proton mail reminder and Ted talk video brought me back to reality. Thanks Lysander would have been going on a very different path for some time if it were not for that great reminder and video.

  • To everyone complaining about this being for new users only, is it not possible to register a new ID on HB and get this?

    • It is not for new users on HB but for new users on those services. So, if you already have PIA you cannot use the code/license to top up your existing subscription. You can make a new user there but what is the point if you already have the service?

      • Yes you cannot extend your existing service, I raised a case with PIA years ago. They recommended just creating a new account. So you have to time it with your existing service expiring and also the expiry date on the voucher code. If memory services me, these generally have a 30-60 day expiration on them. I can't remember as I've still got a couple of years to run on my current discounted voucher.

    • you can buy the bundle x3 with the same card to get $25 ProtonVPN credits. They stack on the same account successfully.

    • PIA does not have a expiry date on the redemption codes. You can buy 2x 1 year PIA packages. A bit risky though as who knows that will happen to the codes or PIA 1 year down the track.

    • PIA codes can be redeemed again by simply registering a new account when the other codes expire.

Just an update on this, apparently ProtonMail/VPN in the $1 tier was a mistake, as was the ability to make multiple redemptions. It no longer works.

First, this promotion will be limited to 1 per user (the limits placed by Humble Bundle are unfortunately not effective, as evidenced by the people who are using this promo 20+ times).

Second, we will be limiting this to just new paid users only. This was the original intention, as we wanted to introduce ProtonMail to a new audience. However, actually most redemptions are existing paid users, which is counter to our original intent.

Third, we will be honoring all the $25 codes that have already been redeemed (including the ones redeemed by existing paid users), with one possible exception. We may cancel transactions involving multiple redemptions, particularly if it also exceeded Humble Bundle's limit of 2 per user. If we decide to enforce this, you will of course be refunded. A final decision will be made later this week.

      • That's fair enough. It's a shame some people were using this 20x times on their accounts. Humble bundle screwed up too.

don't forget to change where the money goes, the default it to send the funds to the Publishers. move it to 100% charity :)

    • I prefer it goes to those that develop the software though.

Same. If it’s a good bargain I prefer to give the developers the money they should get. I know you can do 100% charit but never tried it before

For those who wondered about how long you have to activate the keys (more specifically PIA); when I purchased the bundle, this message appears:

"Redeem your key before it expires on August 31 at midnight Pacific time"

Although some of the keys have different expiry dates, e.g.:

System Mechanic: Must be redeemed before September 1st, 2018
TrackOFF Standard: Must be redeemed before December 1st, 2018
Dashlane Premium: Must be redeemed before December 31st, 2018

  • Private Internet Access - 1 month subscription (5 devices, new users only)
    Proton Mail Plus $25 credit

these two only worth it while the rest are rubbish… will proton mail accept multiple code? already have 1 code..will they accept another? think of getting 1 more for protonmail.

    • 1 per account. They were accepting multiple codes on the first day but that was a mistake.

  • I'm interested with the PREY, I suspect after 6 months, it'll revert back to monthly subscription? interesting enough their monthly subscription only allow max of 10 PCs; while this promo up to 15 devices
