Free Steam Game - Layers of Fear

1930

Personally, this is one my favorite Indie horror game, I have played this just after the release date I can recommend this game to anyone without any hesitation, you guys give it a try.

Free for a limited time! Add it to your account now and keep it forever.

ABOUT THIS GAME:

You take another drink as the canvas looms in front of you. A light flickers dimly in the corner. You’ve created countless pieces of art, but never anything like…this. Why haven’t you done this before? It seems so obvious in retrospect. Your friends, critics, business partners—soon, they’ll all see. But something’s still missing…

You look up, startled. That melody… Was that a piano? It sounded just like her… But, no—that would be impossible. She’s gone. They’re all gone.
Have to focus. How long has it taken to get to this point? Too long, but it doesn’t matter. There will be no more distractions. It’s almost finished. You can feel it. Your creation. Your Magnum Opus.

Dare you help paint a true Masterpiece of Fear? Layers of Fear is a first-person psychedelic horror game with a heavy focus on story and exploration. Delve deep into the mind of an insane painter and discover the secret of his madness, as you walk through a vast and constantly changing Victorian-era mansion. Uncover the visions, fears and horrors that entwine the painter and finish the masterpiece he has strived so long to create.

Game Features:

  • Psychedelic horror – A sense of insanity means each turn of the camera may completely change the look of your surroundings.
  • Victorian setting – Explore a game world inspired by masterpiece paintings, architecture and décor from the 19th century.
  • Original and classic art – Numerous pieces of original art and music flesh out the story and environment.
  • Story-focused exploration – Only through exploring the environment can you uncover the details of the painter’s dark and tragic past.

It's pretty silly, but one of the best horror games I played.

Free or paid, this game is highly recommended for anyone enjoying the genre.

    • Damn I should play it then.
Humblebundle gave it away a while ago and I grabbed it but never ended up playing it as I've never played a pure horror game. Closest thing I played would be Metro 2033 which just has a few horror elements in some parts. Gotta give this a try along with outlast and amnesia which humble also gave away I think.

  • Thanks OP

  • +1 for Steam OS support and free!

    • Isn’t Steam OS long dead?

      • Nope, it's still alive and kicking, and I only buy steamOS compatible games on steam.

        • Sounds like you are kneecapping yourself hard by only playing Steam OS games on PC.

Each to their own, but if there’s one thing that gaming Windows & OSX users agree on - it’s friends don’t let friends use Steam OS.

@c0balt: > friends don’t let friends use Steam OS.

haha. I wonder how OSX users will handle apple deprecating OpenGL

Actually, I use Arch Linux, not Steam OS, but the only reason I can play steam games is because of Steam OS, and only Steam OS compatible games run on Linux.

Sounds like you are kneecapping yourself hard by only playing Steam OS games on PC.

Yeah, I'm not that big a gamer anymore though. I just occasionally play Steam OS compatible games from time to time. The last one I played all the way through was Bioshock Infinite.

  • Also has steam cards so +1, also alot of free to play games now have steam cards so if you go through the free listing and use something like Idlemaster you can easily level your account and get a few extra dollars. Plus alot of these games are definitely worth trying like, BRAIN / OUT, ONRAID & Path of Exile to name a few.

    • Idlemaster doesn't work anymore (at least for me) and I heard the dev stopped updating it.
Archisteamfarm is much better IMO, if you are having troubles this gentleman made a tutorial thingy (it's what I watched) to set it up easy.

  • Well done guy.

  • Good game, but the over-reliance on constant cheap jump scares got real annoying. Of course you’re going to make me jump if you jump in my face with loud music. This happens constantly and it started to piss me off.
