Year Long Basic Sim Plan - Help

i am moving overseas but want to keep my local mobile number as I have had it for a very very long time and want to keep my voicemail etc. Any recommendations for a 365 day simcard? I need the cheapest and minimal data on it - found the kogan deal atm, but its $140 or so for the year - was hoping for something less than $10/month etc as I really will almost never be using it until I land back in Sydney…

ALDI or Vodafone. Both have 365 day expiry.
Edit: $5 and $10 respectively. Because you can recharge voda cheaper, it is better value after 24 months.

    • I can’t find a $10 Vodafone 365? Only $30. Can you direct me to this info?

I can't see a link, but I have a phone with a $2 sim in it and have recharged twice with $10 PAYG credit that lasts 365 days. Maybe only an option for recharges when you buy from a Voda handset? Or perhaps they have made it $30 minimum?

        • Oh right, I didn’t consider buying the sim and then just topping up, thanks!

If you don't specifically need 365 days plan, you can go TPG $1/mth (minimum charge $31) 50MB data with free call or sms.

    There's also Belong for $10 a month.

    Aldi's $15 PAYG 365 days plan
    https://www.aldimobile.com.au/plans/15payg/

It has international roaming to many countries, so you should still be able to receive sms (should be free) / receive call ($) if you want.

Roaming charges are as per below link:

    • might be good to check voicemail etc

  • Aldi $5 Prepaid Starter Pack (with SIM)

$5 PAYG Credit with 365 days credit expiry

  • Merged from $0/M Sim Cards?

    Hi all,

Just wondering if there's any deals for sim cards which charge $0/m - and do not expire if you don't recharge.
Just using it for a permanent phone number in a dual sim phone as I often swap sims.

    Thanks!

  • Merged from In need to sign up for a long expiry plan, what's best?

A friend of mine is going overseas for approx. a year or so, and he wants to keep his number, so I suggested to sign up for long expiry.

The question that we now have is: what's the cheapest long expiry plan for someone whose objective is just to keep his number? I suggested Aldi long expiry, however I'm not too sure if this is the cheapest hence throwing the question to ozbargainers out there.
