  • Damn, got in before me lol. 4 minutes difference.

    • Me too. Was about to post this

  • +3

The unique Kogan Mobile voucher included as part of this product is non transferrable and cannot be redeemed for cash. Voucher expires at 11:59pm AEST on 20/07/2018 not 21/06/2018 as OP mentioned.

    • We can take the offer by 21/6 but activated by 20/7

    • +1

Yep, I suspected that. Kogan usually allows one month after the deal ends to activate.

  • +1

Yeah just came to post this, gave you an upvote instead

    So now I need a cheap 4G dongle…

  • Thanks

  • I tried having a look but couldn't find…
The email I got was titled "0.99c Plans! 23GB + Unlimited Standard Calls/Text* Just 0.99c for 30 Days"

I'm concerned about the word "plan". They don't lock you in for 12months or something and only the first is 99c or something right?

    • +1

Kogan Mobile is prepaid plan which means no contract.

      • states for new customers and the advert doesn't state clearly if this is a 12 month contract or month by month. was hoping for a month by month. to pay first month $1, second month $49 , ? how much notice do they need to terminate before 2nd month contract kicks in. think there will be more attractive deals as EOF.

        • Kogan arnt plans pre paid, but you can buy a year upfront that way! this is for a month 99cents !

    • +5

      untick, auto-recharge during sign-up.
or login to your new account after activation and remove any saved credit crad details.

  • is there an activation period? My Vodafone prepaid sim is still active for another 2 months. Can I purchase this and activate it after the other has expired?

    • 11:59pm 20/7/18

  • Is there a catch?
Like if you forget to cancel something they charge you for another month?

Only asking cause this seems too good to be true.

    • -4

      yes

    • +1

There is a setting inside your user account that lets you attach or remove payment details (Credit card).

As long as you don't have a CC they can't charge you. Auto renewal is optional, can be turned off in 1 click.

      • I unticked the remember credit card details six months ago, got charged $49 the next month, but they were ok to thing the money.

    • Also be prepared to get calls from Insurance companies etc. Nothing extreme. If it's an odd number, don't answer.

    • Got the free ones they did a while back, no catch but yea random phone calls at times even though I had never given out my number.

  • Still waiting for me Catch.

  • Ordered, however the code is not received, do they send code straight away?

    • I got mine last time a few hours later. Had to wait for the sim to actually set it up though which took about a week.

    • Me too have not received the code , did you receive the code later ?

      • +1

Sadly I have to sit this one out - have signed up for the 3 month Catch Connect deal advertised recently.

Still good for cheap data for kids tablets….school holidays coming up!

  • Great post.
The only gripe I have is I don’t like having to give my mobile number to them when checking out “Enter your mobile number to receive SMS delivery updates (where available)”
Reason being is when and if they sell or use your mobile number along with other third parties for constantly sending spam/advertising crap.

Hey it’s a great deal no doubt but I guess there are other ways around giving your personal number is to get one like this sim or similar and use that number for instances like this :)

      0400000000 works..

Please stop giving my number out.

        • +1

your number would be worth a lot!

        • @havok44: actually the worst # to have

        • @bobzor bargain: I also have a very easy number to remember and the amount of Spam/Scam calls I get is crazy. I worked out a few years back that 97% of my incoming calls where unwanted. Recently I noticed a distinct drop in the number of unwanted calls but when I tallyed my call log up it was still 20:1 in favour of unwanted calls.

INB4 Yes I use truecaller and have a tonne of numbers blocked and yes I am on the donnotcall list these scumbags don't care.

Veteran ozbargainer always has a fictional phone number, throwaway email address, a fake Facebook profile etc.

Except fake passports and ghost accounts on Ozbargain. Those are not allowed.

    • Even if you didn't give them your number, they'd end up with your new number or original if you port.

    • We are looking for Mr. or Mrs. Ellis in Coomera. It's regarding the selection of your name. Read more here:

  • What did it mean when it says 'per 30 days'?

If I activate now what happens after 30 days?

    • +1

you have the option to recharge for another 30 days or untick the recharge box in your setting and it will lapse.

      • If I don't use all 23gb within 30 days would I lose them?

        Thanks bud

        • +1

You can kiss the Gb goodbye

FYI- buy now, pay later finance is available folks.

  • I am looking at getting my mum-in-law an unlimited call plan for 2 months. I am wondering how this one stacks against the 15 dollar vodafone plan that would go on sale tomorrow at Coles. I guess for the second month, with Kogan, I will be paying 49, but only 30 bucks with Vodafone… any suggestions please? TIA

    • did you miss out on the catch connect 3 months for $15?

  • How much is the next month?

    • +2

      $49.90

  • +2

great for school holidays data then cancel :)

  • -1

Going to Port to this instead of catch connect now. Vodaphone network a lot nice than Optus.

  • Thanks, bought like 4 for my family

  • I'm already on Kogan on a 365 day plan that expires a month from now. If I have a $2 SIM from Amaysim, would I be able to port out and then port back in to this pretty much same day, given it's a different carrier?

    • +1

Had issue port out to Optus and port back into Telstra within the same day. Port out to Optus - no issue. The port in couldn't be completed until the next day. Maybe it's faster now, but I generally avoid porting back in on the same day, especially Telstra.

    • I've kept a log of my previous ports, and what I suspect is that same-day port-in port-outs can generate issues. E.g going Telstra $30 -> Optus $2 -> Telstra $30 in the same day generated issues where I had to contact Telstra support 4 times before the port went through. So personally, I'd leave it 24 hours between doing each port. And since the $2 SIMs don't include any service, it's a downside.

      • I went from Kogan to Telstra Prepaid, called Kogan to delete account and ported back within 30 minutes.

  • How long do you need to be disconnected from Kogan to be a “New customer” ?? Anyone know ??

    • Almost immediately

      • Tried to activate the sim and port from Woolworths to Kogan for my daughter today but keep saying the voucher code is invalid. Called Kogan and been told that need to be disconnected from Kogan for more than 30 days to port back .

        • so your daughter was on woolies for less than 30 days?

    • +8

Last time, I ported out from Kogan to Optus, when it ended after 28 days, I couldn't port back to Kogan, it said the Voucher code was invalid.
Called support, was told you need to be new customers or wait for 30 days. So on the 31st day, the Voucher code worked, and ported it back to Kogan.

So, if it's your primary mobile number, tread the port in/port out carefully.

      • kool info and noted…

    • Tried to activate the sim and port from Woolworths to Kogan for my daughter today but keep saying the voucher code is invalid. Called Kogan and been told that need to be disconnected from Kogan for more than 30 days to port back .

  • Will Kogan activate these deals still as a NEW Number, or Only new port inns (not Kogan customer for at least 30 days )???

Really liked activating these for new numbers for heaps of data and port my number over ( up to 4-5 per account/same credit card ).

    • activated as a new number.

  • +4

FYI Kogan system will recognise that you have been a previous customer if you try to port out and back in within 30 days of leaving. From previous experience, if you try to do this, the promo voucher will not work and will require manual intervention so a call or email to their support is needed.

    • This has happened to me. I can vouch that just over 30 days is long enough, and just over a week is not long enough. I don't know the exact amount of time required, but I suspect it's 30 days.

    • Yes, well aware of the 30 day port back to Kogan current rule. My question was can you still activate these sim starter offers as a new number/service WITHOUT porting in???

      • +1

Obs was making their own comment, not responding to you, calm down.

  • +5

    kids love Kogan SIM cards

  • what does it new customers? it goes by phone numbers?

    • Same question!

  • Not negging the deal, but I just gone through a porting nightmare with Kogan. Now dealing with the fallout. Really don't recommend it.

    • +1

That sucks. I recently ported into kogan and it was the quickest and simplest port I’ve had by far.

    • +2

FYI,… porting problems can happen with all telcos in various different circumstances.

      • Yeah it's the luck of the draw. Been SIM-surfing for over a year now, first time ran into this. They didn't have an email support system, everything is done over the phone, which is hard when you only had access to one and it's being ported lol. And to be able to identify you, you need to give them the PIN. Guess what, I couldn't reset my PIN, computer says no… Anyway, it's unexpectedly difficult and I'm glad it's over.

  • -2

If i buy it now, can I use it in Dec?

    • No, need to be activate by 20 July 2018

    • Voucher expires 20/07/2018.

      Right there in the OP.

  • Great SIM cards.

I note their '[gift card] vouchers' aren't often displayed in category to which that exclusion applies. Can it be confirmed if this calculation would be right for. Sourced on an ebay gift cards_10% +sitewide_10%?

    ((254.30 - 25.99) * .9) * .9 =
    184.9311

This might bring 16 (192)GB plan to a more reasonable 15 dollars.

    • This ain't gonna work putting 3.99 only thru eb. Doh. maybe await another flash sale.(optus)

  • How do I get the $0.99 deal and then switch to the current 365 day deals after the 30 days of the $0.99 deal runs out?

    • +2

When is the expiry date of your 365 days voucher? If you get this 0.99 deal, when it ends after 30 days, just recharge it with your 365 days voucher code provided that it is not expired at the time.

When you set up the 0.99 deal, remove your credit card and auto recharge setting, you will be able to recharge it manually, so you can switch plan with 365 days voucher code.

      • Great, thanks for that! I don't have any Kogan vouchers at the moment, so will probably get the 0.99 deal and then recharge it with the 365 day voucher.

      • Can I get this and then after a month, recharge with another plan (3 gb) for 365 days? Will that work?

Edit: They have a deal for the 3 gb as well. Will just go with that and reload after a month for 365 days. Sweet.

  • we can port number over I presume?

  • Perfect, I'm away for 3 weeks at the end of the month and need data

Oh and for those that needed it, Kogan offer Zip Pay ;)

  • What defines new? If I want a new number but I’m with Kogan already, will I need to create a new account (/use a different email) to get this?

And when I go to activate the voucher will it not let me because my identity has a current service with them?

    • +1

Earlier this year at my last sim connections from Kogan end March, you could either port over up to 5 sims in one account/name with the same credit/debit card in a month. All same name/address/email and credit/debit card up to 5 max, not sure if you can get more in same name and email, but sounds like it as long as you use different card.

  • It’s a good idea. The 23gb doesn’t concern me, but I’m going to test it for speed/network, and if it’s useable, will bring the two kids phones into Kogan (with the current 30% discount on the 365 day plans).
Just need to receive the sim a couple of days before the 30th June.

. It’s a loss leader, but a small investment by them will net them 2 new accounts that they wouldn’t have otherwise had.

  • Can I bring my number from kogan starter kit to new kogan starter kit?

    • Might be worth referring to past deal posts. I remember this question being asked quite a bit.

  • Thanks OP, this post made me log into my Kogan account and was pleasantly surprised to find $10 referral credit waiting to be used by 21/06/2018!

Needless to say, bought a few of these with the credit 😎

  • I feel sorry for people on the same network.
