Philippine Airlines has an earworm of a themesong (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8YxA1gf09Mo), but is a great full service airline. And they’ve got a sale on to the US at present, with flights to San Francisco on sale, but more impressively, return from Melbourne to New York from just $883.

    Have flown them twice, the food and entertainment was wonderful! Even down the back of the plane…

  Just keep in mind that it's ~2,000 miles further flying to NYC than going via LAX, and 3,000 miles further to SFO than direct.

  Reviews of the airline seem pretty average overall….. Hmmmmm
