in a diesel car that has a DPF(diesel particulate filter) i wouldn't use oil that doesn't at least satisfy the ACEA C3 standard. So anything above c3(inclusive), c4, c5 is fine, unless you want to get the dpf blocked and pay $2000 for taking it out or 7 grand from replacement. Putting a low quality oil once or twice, shouldn't do damage but i won't risk it
I am guessing DOHC is a diesel engine, ignore my post if it's notDual OverHead Camshafts certainly does not mean Diesel.
Just wait until 5 weight oil goes on sale (or a brand-wide sale) which will happen in a month or two between Repco and SCA.
You've taken the time to look up the correct specification for your car for that brand, so it seems a bit odd to use a different spec oil given you know that information. Most modern cars (2002 included) don't benefit from the "use a heavier weight oil as the engine ages" maxim.
Modern engines are built with pretty tight tolerances, so if you chuck in an incorrect weight oil to account for piston ring or gasket wear (or to save $10 because OzBargain) then any issues you think you're fixing by using a heavier oil are most likely going to cause issues in other parts of the engine.
When do you think 5w30 be on sale?
SCA and Repco both had fairly wide ranging oil sales recently (including the full Penrite range) so I'd say in 2-3 months time.
Why dont you ask THEM ?

What does the mazda manual spec? I dont think Mazda use ACEA specs but I would expect this oil to satisfy the your mazda's specs.
A GH 2.5L petrol specs are
API SG/SH/SJ/SL/SM or
ILSAC GF-II/GF-III/GF-IVThe oil weight is based on the temperature range from the manual.

A5/B5 Exceeds A3/B4 so this is good stuff to put in your Mazda6. As a mechanic of 35 years I have to be very careful as to what oil I put into a modern car these days. Basically that oil is too good to be putting in a 2002 spec car but it's a good price so why not?
Guys will the Castrol Edge Engine Oil - 10W-30 be suitable for a 2005 Mazda 3 SP23?

Question: https://www.datateck.com.au/lube/castr_au/ says that my car (mazda 6 GG/GY, 2.3 Litre DOHC Eng. 2002) is compatible with "CASTROL EDGE 5W-30 A3/B4" But the product advertised in this deal is A5/B5. would it still be compatible?
