  • Why do they look like they're from the 90s?

Someone found an old warehouse filled with these and are deciding to sell?

    • +4

You are right - the Sydney phone number even has 7 digits!
If the RRP at that time was "well over $100", surely it would have an RRP of $299 by now due to inflation? :)

This is quite hilarious. I can only imagine what condition the fabric is in given that this is likely well over 20 years old. I highly doubt it is still waterproof.

      • Yeah degraded for sure, but I guess people would still be interested in a cheaper car cover (i.e. as if you bought one from gumtree)… though I think $15 is more reasonable.

      Hey,

We bought them through Rhino-Rack (the original distributor) years ago. No hiding the fact they're old. We're actually very upfront about that. We've been in the same location since 1972 so there's nothing dodgy going on. They are sitting collecting dust so thought it was time to get rid. The majority of them are still in their original plastic packaging so the elements haven't got to them.

      • Things can degrade without the elements getting to them. If I were you, I would make sure to open one up and check whether the material is still okay and waterproof.

Thanks for the advice. Per the listing, we're happy to photograph any of the items or test them for anyone interested and send the images and results of our tests to the purchaser.

@a1roofracks: Wouldn't testing them save you a lot in hassle if they were defected though? We're not trying to protect ourself, more so you.

        • @StoneSin: We're very confident in these products.

$20 for a car cover from kmart… But at least it's brand new.

    • +4

You could buy that, or you could open your own Car Cover Museum with these timeless examples…

Should be selling them for $19.99… because that's where they look like they are from!

  • +5

Yeah, no. The phone number on the packaging has 7 digits. We changed to 8 in 1996.

    These things degrade over time.

      Haha wow!

  • Can you do any better on the shipping? $14.95 P&H flat is more than half the cost of the item itself. Where are you guys located? Do you allow local pick-up at the brick and mortar?

  • As per Hi PSI, is pickup available?

  • Mine arrived but:
    - wasn't new. Had obviously been tried on a car (had black dust from a tyre on it), then just stuffed back in to the plastic retail packaging.
    - carry bag wasn't included
    - was wrong size (a size 'L' had been shoved in 'XL' packaging.
