12% Cashback with Expedia Australia on International Hotels @ Cashrewards

370

Didn't say what the original Cashback rate was but pretty sure it was much less than what is offered today.

Please note cashback only applies to international hotels.

  • Up to 5.5% originally.

  • Sweet was going to book a hotel today. Cheers!

It was about 5% when I tried a week ago and was comparing with Agoda, Booking.com, etc… some sites are tricky and incorporate the cash rewards amount into the page as a 'cash back discount' (ie. the amount calculated is the cashrewards bit, not another discount).

Back on topic, 12% off is great - I've been using the MASTERAU12 code for Mastercard to get that rate on Expedia (especially good since Expedia pricing for cancellable hotels tends to be better than others - in my limited experience).

  • Dont be surprised if it is going to months to get your cashback. I booked my accom with Agoda via Cashrewards about a month ago, filed a claimed cause i didnt hear anything from cashrewards and got an email saying they will take 30-90 days to investigate….

I booked a few flights with Expedia and the purchased had an issue with tracking… Cashrewards tried to get Expedia to pay out but they essentially refused to but would not give any details as to why… watch out for Expedia, I've stopped using them since as they did not honour the cash rewards even after evidence (invoices, payments..etc.. was provided)… Cashrewards tried a few times for us but could not get a Win…

I've had other payments have a transaction issue in the past with other sites and Cashrewards managed to get it all fixed up no problems.. The issue in this occasion seemed to be Expedia… Just wanted to put the warning out!

    • Same. I bought a bunch of Japan hotels via Expedia about 6 months in advance. All of them were rejected with no reasons a few months afterwards. I didn't bother reporting but this to me is really like false advertising.

    • I had exactly same experience but with Wotif, provided order confirmation email, payment invoice and Cashrewards website tracking, Cashrewards helped to contact Wotif for couple times but just got replied from Wotif that “your purchase has not been attributed to Cashrewards and therefore Cashrewards will not be paid for this sale.” This decision is final and my 209 bucks gone.

It seems to me evey time I have a high amount Cashrewards there will be a tracking or honouring issue, I suggest Cashrewards should amended the T&C with the vendors to protect the users’ interest.

  • Can u normally get cash back on top of the discount code?

    • Yup you can, I've done it before.

    • Can u normally get cash back on top of the discount code?

You can try, but if it doesn't track or is declined down the track, this is the reason:

Use of any coupons and/or incentive offers/links (including Amex/Mastercard/Visa discounts) will invalidate any cashback and/or any cashback claims, including our cashback guarantee, unless specifically listed on this site.

  • Having the same problem with Expedia cash reward., they refused to give cash reward after been waiting for 3 months without any reasons why, let me wonder was this a scam either from Cashreward or Expedia

Is this something that ACCC can look into? Imagine if it was a brick and mortar store advertising for 12% cash back and then later refuse to pay for it. I'll be at their store or on the phone right away. For Expedia I don't even know where to start if I want to report them.

Hi MonkeyRum. Two things please. Were your transactions tracked when you initially booked, or were these added in manually by us as pending via transaction queries (untracked) so we could reach out to Expedia on your behalf? There's a big difference between the two as tracked transactions are hardly ever declined unless a cancellation is made, or the terms below aren't met.

Secondly, I can try to find out the reason for the declines if you ping me your CR email address and invoices. I'd need to reach out to Expedia with the info. Some of the major reasons for non tracking & declines are these, which are stipulated on our merchant page:

Use of any coupons and/or incentive offers/links (including Amex/Mastercard/Visa discounts) will invalidate any cashback and/or any cashback claims, including our cashback guarantee, unless specifically listed on this site.

There terms are provided by the merchant. They won't pay cashback on top of other promos they run unless they specifically allow it. I think the reasons for this are obvious. Anyway, as always, the offer of help is there if you need it. Have a nice day.

  • The 12% Amex deal on Agoda is instant - I save almost $200 on a booking yesterday and that price was $500 less than the actual hotel’s website.

  • A bit of a n00b question - how do you use this in conjunction with the 12% Mastercard offer, as that is a specific URL?

  • does the cashback apply if you log in and receive the 10% discount for being a member?

  • What timing !!!

  • Can we extend please? I just discovered this deal today - I have 3 weeks of accommodation to book and there's not enough time!

    • We have Hotels.com at 11% cashback until the 25th provided you check out as a guest and don’t claim Hotels.com rewards…

      • Hi TA, I just made a booking as a guest but only got $2.48 cashback tracked from an ~83AUD hotel booking.

        • Hi there. Looks like you’ve been given the non-guest amount at the lower rate for some reason. Please ping me your CR email address as well as your full invoice and I’ll get it sorted first thing Monday for you. Thanks.
