My local Big W has 4-packs of Chevron branded energy saving globes for $5 at the moment - normally about $10. They come in both bayonet and screw-type fittings. Your local store probably has them as well. Not sure how long the special is on either.

I don't know if it was int he catalogue - I happened to be in the Light and Power section of the store and saw them. Wattages ranged from 9 wats up to about 22 I think.
I've seen them in there at that price for weeks now, not sure if they are the same brand in my store thou.
