    Colour rendering index (CRI) 80

Super average. Go Ikea smart bulbs. These typically have a cri of 90+.

Ikea unfortunately changed them so although the CRI is still good the R9 is much worse than it used to be

  • Cheap, but $9.95 delivery to WA.

    26 left in stock.

CRI is the ability of a light to show you what colour things are, and 80 is pretty bad for lighting your house. Hold out for CRI 90+ so your living room doesn’t feel like an office cubicle

That probably has more to do with colour temperature than CRI. Cool white vs warm white

      • Yeah and 3000 is pretty good. I'm pretty sure Philips used to call 3000 "cool"….. their "warm" was basically yellow when LEDs were coming out.

      • true but a nice cri doesn't hurt.

      • This is reasonably warm, so it won’t look cold like an office, but it’ll feel like the colours are wrong, like cheap monophosphor fluorescents.

Low CRI is like those gross sodium streetlights – they’re “warm” and bright enough to see, but everything is the wrong colour like you’re in another dimension. To be fair, 80CRI is a lot better than a sodium street lamp which has a CRI well below zero, but if you’re living in a space you deserve CRI above 90

This is the huge A80 size, note that there is a smaller 19W one (size A67) here, which is slightly larger than a standard bulb (A60)

  • Serious question, why does any one by the cool white colour bulbs? Do people enjoy the sterile hospital aesthetic?

    • Study/Office? Laundry?
