    Mixes well with Dr Pepper.

I can't believe anyone would mix this with anything other than Sprite.

      • +4

or a splash of voss water

Not sure why these negs. Its a great drink and not for mixing. Use cheap ones for mixing and save money.

        • some people just don't get the joke!

        • @paaj: Yup.

An under-rated 15-year blend that is much smoother and tastes a lot better than the fancy labelled single malts with no age statement that cost more.

    • Agreed. Look at the single malts that go into this, very nice.

    • Better than gold label?

      • I find gold label (reserve) relatively smoother than the green. Its almost got no 'feel' to it
        I love green label.

      • Depends on what you prefer. I find the Gold Label has a little bit of smokiness to it, so I guess it depends if you like some peat in your whisky’s or not. I prefer Green Label, and at this price the Green Label is a steal!

  • Thanks op, will give this a go.

  • got two as always wanted to give at a go and one bottle might not be enough of a material to work with. Out of curiosity, how one would rate it against blue label? Is x3 price tag justified? Cheers.

      Short answer not really no

    • +1

Blue is pretty garbage IMO. I prefer the Green and its significantly cheaper. Blue Label is aimed at the Asian market with their desire for conspicuous consumption.

      • +2

Not really garbage, just garbage value

I'd say even a Double Black is better, then again my answer is biased as I am a fan of Double Black :)

I just finished a green and am going through a blue now. Blue is a touch smoother, green a touch more peaty. Green is great - blue is not worth 3 times as much.

  • If you watch shows made by Netflix you will almost always find a clear bottle of Scotch in every one of them lol

  • price isnt always indicative of how good whisky is.

I bought a bottle of Hakushu during the recent deal. Really excited to try it. It was meh. I think Chivas or Johnny Black is nicer

  • this stuff goes down smooth. had a glass 50/50 JW green & coke and it didn't burn or anything.

    • +5

Do yourself a favour by not mixing it with coke. Coke spoils taste of any drink. You can do that for red , black label or chivas.

      • +3

Black on the rocks is a good everyday imo. Better than it gets credit for.

      • What would you recommend? mixers wise. I'm usually a vodka guy but starting to get a taste for whiskey.

        • +3

Mixing drink with cola means, you just want to go high and don't like taste of whiskey.
Red label is good cheap start. But if it tastes bad to you, Dimple 12 year blend (prefer it over Chivas any day) is nice with coke or soda/ice if you want. smooth and cheap..

Or try the Jack Daniel No 7 Tennessee whiskey, which goes good with ice and cola. Rums (like kraken) go pretty good with cola. Anything over $40-45 range is wasting money if mixed with coke.
          Hope it helps.

        • @Gaggy:

          Jack daniels is overpriced trash.

        • +1

          @Jugganautx: Its around $42.
          Cant say it is trash

  • This should be a new 'Green' label blend.
It isn't the same as the one available a couple of years ago which all sold out.

Would be curious for someone to compare to see the different taste.

  • I dunno anything about whiskey but how does it compare to JW Island Green?

    • +1

i think that one is more peaty

  • Thanks OP. Bought a case! Great fir client gifts!

    • Hmm..delicious bribe..

  • Thanks. Got one. Love this, its a top quality scotch.

  • Thanks

  • Thanks OP! Bought one.
    Don't tell my wife.

  • Thanks OP, grabbed a couple for myself and a work mate.

  • Sold out at my local DM. Dimple 15 yo for 454 is at good price as well.
