Can you recommend a good skate board? My son went into toysrus and grabbed the first skate board he saw and said that's what he wanted. Tried to talk him out of it. After trying friends board, he now want a better board. Hogs wheels doesn't spin very well and the grip take has started to come off after minimal use.
How old is your boy? There are some great value complete board there. Does he want the double kick (front and back nose and tail) or just single kick at the back style?

Something like this

Or this one that’s slightly shorter. Any of the 7.75” wide or less boards will be fine
He's 11 and wants double kick. His friends got Element boards and the wheel spins so much better.
You reckon any complete boards would have decent wheels?
Edit -oh I want to duck l stick to under $100 before discount
This Real board has abec 5 bearings which will be fast. A great deal at $67 complete and a good size for an 11 yr old

yeah, never get any of those toy shop boards; they're just rubbish and dangerous.
the best board will be the one you choose components for and build yourself, but the completes recommended by Bargearse below are the next best thing. they're at least made by legit board companies with decent enough hardware that won't pose a hazard to a newbie skater.
after getting one of those completes, the best thing you can do is replace the bearings with the best you can afford. you'll get better roll performance and less chance of the bearing seizing up and throwing your son off the board. ideally, Bones Swiss but those are close to $100. pretty much anything from Bones is better than the no-name bearings you'll find on most boards. and ABEC ratings don't count for much since the numbers are meant for bearings used in machinery. skate bearings rely more on toughness and durability.
you might want to replace the wheels as well depending on what surfaces you son skates and if he does any tricks yet. those little hard wheels aren't suited to just cruising around on surfaces other than smooth concrete of skate parks. get softer durometer (smaller numbers, like 78A) and bigger wheels (55mm to 61mm).
some other tweaks to consider would be loosening up the trucks so the board turns more and swapping out the poly bushings in the trucks for softer, better quality ones that allow the board to turn more responsively. again, Bones makes some quality components or just go with what other board companies are being stocked.
whatever he rides, make sure he doesn't get it wet!
Thanks tdw, we'll give the real board a go and see if he sticks to it. Happy to spend the extra money if he is serious about it.
I'm blindly upvoting this before I've even looked at the sale but hopefully it won't disappoint :)
Nah, checked some joggers pants I bought from The Iconic a month ago and they are like $12 more expensive even with the discount.
This.
Check the prices on the ‘swell’ home brand, never seen them that price
The Bellroy Note Sleeve in blue steel for $69.96 after discount is not a bad deal.
