I'm not sure about 1 and 2 but 3,4,Primal and 5 are not linked story-wise in any way whatsoever.
Not a fan per se, but I do enjoy the gameplay in FC (Just starting on FC4 while waiting for FC5 to go down in price)
farcry 5 story is rubbish, game is buggy as hell and there is no suspension of disbelief… wait for when it is $20 and i'd still be wanting change ….
farcry 4 was incredible, well worth buying it

Do you need online play to get the most out of it? I don't have a PSN+ subscription anymore, and am not interested in getting one. I used to play Call of Duty and only ever played online as the co-op was the biggest selling point. Is it still worth buying FC4 for offline play?
Yes has a lot of DLC. Yeti is pretty good
