Got mine a few hours ago, and the build quality, screen, responsiveness and android purity are all great.
Agreed with all except for the screen quality, looks a bit washed out to me and my mi5 was a lot better.
Rear camera works well in good light with the google camera app. In low light both cameras struggle a lot.

You buy a universal adaptor. When I bought the phone through lightinthebox, they gave me a converter but not the Australian one. Maybe you could put a note in your order to tell them to include the AU adaptor.
Alot of reviews put the Redmi 5 Plus ahead of the Mi A1 in terms of the speed, design and camera abilities.
There was a recent YouTube video that shows the colouring of the A1 to be very dull compared to sharp colouring in the Redmi 5 Plus.

This one runs Android One from Google so will be updated a lot faster than the one runs Xiao Mi OS. I think some people already got 8.0 for the Mi A1.

The S5's screen is better and has a few more niche features like the hr sensor, but if you don't use the latter, you will appreciate the increase in RAM and faster performance and a camera that is a tiny bit better. You might miss the screen, but that's more of a subjective thing. Oh and you get Android One, whereas I think the S5 is stuck on Android 6 (MM)
For me personally, I think the MI A1 camera quality is way worse than the Samsung S4 which is what I had previously. Everything else I have no complaints about…although my phone is very slightly bent - I guess they didn't just copy iphones design
