[Android] Car-Bluetooth-Activator $0 (Was $0.99)

230

Car-Bluetooth-Activator activates/deactivates your mobile's bluetooth automatically.

If you have a hands-free equipment in your car, this app is right for you!

Your mobile's bluetooth does not have to stay activated all the time. Instead, the app activates bluetooth when you are driving.
And when you are not in the car, the app deactivates bluetooth.

You can make phone calls via your hands-free equipment as usual.

Made in Deutschland

I can understand it needs access to location, wifi and bt, but what does it need my device id and phone number for?

I have tried a couple of similar apps, and one of those explained that the only way the app can detect an incoming phone call, or know that you are on a call, is to use a "phone status" request, which also returns device id and phone number.

The app also needs to know if you are on a call, so it doesn't mistakenly turn off the bluetooth in the middle of a call. This could happen if you are on a call when you arrive at your destination, and stop the car.

  • I assume it requires the GPS to be active so it can detect that you're moving at speed? And presumably it'll turn on the bluetooth on the bus/train?

Yeah someone please explain this to me or I am not bothering

    • Works as advertised in my car, will test on bus Monday and report back. But may not be free then so download now use later.

Since it requires your car to be paired already, I think it'll turn on, on bus to check and see no paired device and turn off.

Hopefully the Bluetooth-car activator app goes on sale soon :)

      • When it goes on sale I can use my Google survey credit to purchase it =).

My Bluetooth has an on off switch.

    • Scab's switch is stuck on hyper mode…

I just keep bluetooth always ON, when I'm driving it automatically connects to the car. Didn't see any impact on the battery life. What am I doing wrong?

If there are two or more cars at your home, all with bluetooth, and your partner is arriving or departing in one of those cars, your phone will connect to that car. Anyone ringing you at that time will also ring inside the car, and your partner will probably answer by reflex before you can get your phone out. Can cause a lot of confusion, and some difficulty in disconnecting bluetooth and handing the call back.

  • I've got a home page widget for switching bluetooth on and off which is really convenient. I'm keen to know whether this needs to pick up the cars movement before switching on or pretty much when you get in the car.

Edit: the reviews are terrible. I'm not bothering as my widget is fine and that is free.

    • Yeah doesn't look promising.

Most car BT will not allow you to pair while the car is moving for safety reasons.

      • Not set up the first time pairing but should still allow connection.

Why not use an NFC tag if using the in-phone toggle is what you're wanting to avoid?

    • I've never seen a cheap phone with NFC, so it isn't an option for people with cheap phones. None of my sub-$100 phones had it.

  • The way that I activate and deactivate my Bluetooth on my mobile is by pushing a button..

    • That uses jigawats of energy mate
