Because he wants to trick you into buying a monitor…

I would never buy a computer with a SU7300 processor since it's CPU is equivalent to a 2006 Core duo ugh!

    • +2

Yeah because you couldn't run Word or Firefox in 2006 could you…

i m really thinking of buying this one, does any ppl think this is worth and good laptop to buy? is that really 2006 cpu?

  • +1

Well derp, it's a low voltage CPU, supposed to consume less energy by sacrificing on performance.
The performance is higher than that of a netbook with an Atom CPU, but lower than that of a mainstream laptop.

The SU7300 will wipe the floor with any Atom N330 or N450 processor.

If you want performance AND portability, be prepared to spend over $700-800 to get a Core i3 ULV notebook.
Actually the cheapest notebook with such a CPU in Aust is currently the Alienware M11x, which sells here for $1300.

all i want is a slim portable laptop. all the thin on us atom n450, like sony vaio x . but i dont know much about MSI. and they look kind cheap with the plastic finish

    • I recently picked up a UL30VT for $550 because I got sick of my HP 1000 netbook which was great but couldn't game or crunch any amount of data to save its life and the battery life of an Atom isn't even as good as the SU7300!! The deal I got was a once off so I couldn't post unfortunately.

This is a good deal for what it's worth!! So much better than any netbook.

I'm using a SU7300 laptop and it's not slow at all, but be aware I'm using it as a web browser + office computer. And for 2D steam games.

It doesnt experience the slowdown or waiting periods so commonly attributed to atoms.

If you want to do cpu intensive stuff or 3D games, this isn't for you.

Notably though, I upgraded to an SSD and it didn't make much difference to speed or battery life. By comparison, that same SSD in a pc with some real cpu grunt made a huge difference.

I also uninstalled all the bloatware that came with the laptop. Which no doubt helped a lot.

PCCG had a gigabyte one, better specs than this for $599. Sold out now. You could ask them if they are getting more stock though (iirc, it was 4gb & win7 PRO)

is gigabyte good but? the return base rate is fairly high tho

      • Gigabyte, MSI, Acer, Viewsonic

All have cheap SU7300's, and I imagine the problem rate is about the same with them all. Unfortunately, that error rate is probably relatively high. My Viewsonic has had some issues (loose mouse button, nothing a bit of glue wouldnt fix). If you want better build quality, you'll have to pay for it. From memory, there's an $800ish SU7300 on here by HP posted not long ago. Probably 'safer' and IIRC it may have come with a longer warranty period than this.

Cant remember for sure. You'll have to look it up and take what I said with a grain of salt.

    • SU7300 is definitatly not slow!!Mine's OC'd to 1.9Ghgz teamed with a 512mb GTX 210 on my notebook mentioned above plays any CPU intensive title I've thrown at it. If you want some graphics, bigger battery, more ram & hdd get one of these for sure they should get really cheap in the coming months!
