First time poster,

Was looking for some decent RAM and came across this.

No idea about return policy or customer service with Newegg, so not sure if this is worth it over local stock.

Anyways, I bought some :)

If you are buying other components from Newegg, the costs of shipping can be spread and works out to be even cheaper.

  • DDR4 3200MHz, C16 (16-18-18-38). Not too bad.

    good for ryzen 1700x?

  • My dell XPS comes with two 2600MHz 8Gb RAMs. Any side effect on mixing these different RAMs?

    • They'll all run at the lower speed.

      • I heard it’s bad even just to mix different branded RAMs?

        • It's not bad but you will lose a small, unnoticeable amount of RAM performance since you no longer use dual channel.

    • @nosrad What XPS do you have? If it's an XPS 13/15, this is desktop RAM and won't work.

      • XPS 8930 Tower :)

  • No RGB no deal

Is RAM starting to get cheaper yet, or still continue to go up?

    • +1

good ram is still higher priced compared to 5-6 months back
just not as ridiculous as 3 months ago

    • depends what speed.

      • All speeds went up in price compared to what they were. So when they go back down, it stands to reason all speeds drop back down in price.

well RAM makers have a new class action lawsuit up against them for price fixing but I doubt anything will come from it.

      • I hope something happens because RAM makers have been doing this for years.

      • it is a demand thing and not fixing and manufacturers of devices like phones, and laptops, etc have long term contracts with Samsung, Hynix, etc so their prices are locked in …. problem is consumer demand doesn't have the benefit of lock in contacts, we suck up what is left over at the market rate. With phones getting more and more RAM and more flash also, those production lines are stretched for capacity for some time to come.

        • These price hikes were happening periodically even before smart phones existed.

You would think they or somebody new would open up new plants.. there's a market opportunity out there for anyone who can supply what others can't.

        • @lostn: the foundries cost billions of dollars and years to ramp up and you need to have a lot of IP, so it's often expansion from existing players or lines for new tech. Not worth the investment if you can already sell what you make at a price that balances to your profits.

  • Didn't know Newegg had an Australian store? Never seen any deal on here before.

      It only hatched recently.

      • Was there an official launch?

  • … waiting for RAM to come back down in price again.
