PLUGNPLAY

Looking for a good 2k GSync Monitor and might just bite the bullet on this one. Great 27" IPS G-Sync monitor for a decent price. From what I understand this uses the same panel as the Acer XB271HU and ASUS PG279Q.

AOC also offers 30 days zero bright dot guarantee: http://www.aocmonitorap.com/au/warranty.php

  • Anyone have one that can comment?!???!

    • Really don't know what to say. It performs exactly as the specs would have you believe (which is to say, phenomenally) and is a tasteful design. No issues encountered.

Got one of this and HDMI port stop working after 10 months. Request for repair and has been told by technician said it has no problem.

Got it back and HDMI port still not working. I have tested the HDMI port on other monitors, PC and Mac before I sent it for RMA. They told me no problem of HDMI and sent it back to me. Totally disappointed with AOC RMA/warranty process.

Get DELL if you worry about RMA/warranty service.

yes. great monitor, flexible adjustments too. make sure you check backlight bleed though. im lucky i got lesser amount; but still some. otherwise, colour is good (after adjustment) with great refresh rate. use display port.

  • This model seems to be ozbargain's user choice for best gaming monitor under $800 based on past deals & comments.

    • Can't be best monitor for competitive shooters but otherwise sure.

      • Care to elaborate? Curious as to what's missing for competitive shooters as i thought this had it all.

Is it the 4ms IPS vs say a 1ms TN panel?

        • It just depends on your level of competitiveness. It just depends how relative that 3ms difference will be for you.

Personally I went with TN panel one from Dell because it was approximately $200 cheaper (after cashback) from the previous deal and for good service as monitor RMA can be a difficult process!

        • Fair enough. Based on the comments below I think i should retract my statement as this being the best monitor under $800.
This seems like a better option as posted by stratbargain below https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Acer-XB271HU-27-WQHD-G-Sync-144H… for $799.20 plus shipping.

Hehe I actually sent mine back for replacement the next day because the backlight bleed was just awful; bottom corners had huge yellow 'triangles' visible with the lights on in the room :/

Waiting to hear back from them, though I doubt the replacement will be much better since it's likely to be a batch issue (mine was manufactured in Jan 18). If the new one is as bad or worse, I'll be asking for a refund.

Regardless, it is still a good price if you don't care about bleeding/like to gamble, since the g-sync was really good - smooth as eggs :)

    • Did they make the process easy when you contacted them to initiate a return?

      • Yeah, they were quick to send a pre paid return label which was good.

        • I'm holding off purely for this reason as im based in Perth. Do you know if the Prepaid return label etc would be catered for interstate purchases?

        • @starburstyellow: I don't see why not, seeing as I'm in Adelaide and the return was to Sydney. Just packed it up, stuck the label on the box, took it to the post office, they scanned it in and gave me a tracking number.

I made the jump from normal 24 inch 60hz 1080p monitor to this last August. Best piece of hardware I have ever purchase, better than buying a new GPU, better than going from HDD to SSD. The IPS panel looks great, G-Sync works perfectly with my 1080. 27" is the perfect size to have side by side Chrome tabs.

    • Im in same boat. Currently have an old 24' Benq monitor. Your description makes it a worthwhile investment.

Btw what card are you running? and what games do you currently play?

Ive got a 960 GTX with (unfortunately) 2GB. Should have spent the extra to get a 4GB as want to game at 1440. :(

      • +1

Hey, I got the gigabyte windforce GTX1080. It could handle every current game at 1440p. Destiny 2, Far Cry 5, COD WW2, you name it.

If you can upgrade to a 1070 or at least a 1060-6GB should be good enough.

  • I have this exact same panel, but in the Viewsonic model. It is absolutely stunning. For anyone wanting one, get it. It will not disappoint.

  • hmmmm this or VR for similar price….

    • This. Supports substantially more and better games.

      • +1

but i heard vr porn is better than 4k…

    • Depends on what your current monitor is like and what games you want to play.

      Mainly play racing games? VR.
Already have a decent monitor? VR.

      Otherwise, get the monitor :)

    • This longterm, but if you haven't tried VR you need to find a way to try it asap.

  • I've got the 144hz non g-sync one and love it!

    Hi,

I wanted to clear up some misinformation that has been going around OzBargain about this panel.

While this monitor has the same specs as the Acer XB271HU and Asus PG279Q, it is nowhere near the same quality - let me explain why.

The AOC AG271QG along with the Viewsonic XG2703 use the same panel as the 3 year old Acer XB270HU - the AU Optronics M270DAN02.3. This panel is known for backlight bleeding, dead pixels and has been returned many a time.

When I bought my amazing XB271HU I found out that it is the only panel which uses the latest AU Optronics M270DAN02.6 panel - much improved in terms of quality yield compared to the previous XB270HU. Similarly, the PG279Q uses the AU Optronics M270Q008 V0 which is a higher quality panel than the previous generation.

Hopefully you can now see why the Acer XB271HU and the Asus PG279Q are worth that bit extra over this model.

    Cheers

    • Thank you for that summary. So which uses the better (newer?) panel Acer XB271HU or ASUS PG279Q ?

      • Did you read his post?

        • +3

Why don't you refrain from troll posting. At no point did he compare those two panels directly, only stated that they were newer than the one included in this monitor.

        • @gk0r:

          Sorry, wasn't trolling.

"Hopefully you can now see why the Acer XB271HU and the Asus PG279Q are worth that bit extra over this model."

That statement, I thought, answered your question relating which uses the newer panel.

Both Asus and acer use the new panel, as opposed to this or viewsonic.

Between the Asus and acer, no real difference. Looks and price should be your only real discernible difference.

        • @sabaramo:

Both Asus and acer use the new panel

          Acer XB271HU uses M270DAN02.6 panel. It's an 8-bit + FRC panel.
Asus PG279Q uses M270Q008 VO panel, which is does not support FRC.

All of these are different panels.

    • Fantastic to know. If you dont mind me asking how you know this? Have done a lot of research on these monitors and never come across this before.

    • +3

I think you mean Acer :) Most of the listings around $800 on that page are for the inferior model XB271HUA. This is a TN panel which is nowhere near the quality of the XB271HU which is an IPS panel.

      Cheers

      • Cheers for the good info.

So in your opinion, would this XB271HU be well worth the extra $60 over OP's deal for better quality?

Would you say the XB271HU is the best gaming monitor under $1000? Trying to recommend something decent for a friend.

Are there any IPS panels on the market with these features as well as the 1ms response time? It seems everything with 1ms is TN and everything with IPS is 4ms.

        • +1

          No worries!

Yeah for sure the XB271HU is easily the best for that price range.

I've had mine for a year and a half and it takes games to a whole new level :)

          Cheers

Edit: You won't find any IPS panels below 4ms. However the difference is so negligible you literally could not notice. IPS panels in general are so superior in every other way that it shouldnt even factor into considerations :)

        • +1
        • good spot!

      • +1

Ugh, didn't even bother to check if they were IPS or not. Thanks for cleaning up my mess!

  • I own this monitor paired it with gtx1080 and this rocks fast-paced fps games like Quake Champions.

It is 144hz by default, need to OC for 165hz. It's in the monitor settings so wouldn't harm your monitor.

I tried ULMB feature and never used it since then.

It has headphone holder at the right side.

does this have a TV tuner built in?

    • +1

      No.

      • -5

No deal can get a tv for less

        • not sure if serious or troll..
this is a monitor with its price being justified through its specs.

        • I don't think you even own a computer..

        • @Oz8argain:
          I don’t. I use my sega megadrive

  • I'm looking for a monitor in this segment. This or ASUS MG279Q (27", 1440p, IPS, 144Hz, FreeSync)?
The ASUS can be had for around $700.

    • Firstly, if you have an AMD card go Freesync. If Nvidia, go for a G-Sync monitor.
If you don't, you're wasting your money as the key feature of the monitor will not work.
The respective sync technologies adaptively sync the graphics card with the monitor when it drops below the native refresh rate, therefore resulting in smooth gameplay.

In this price range the best G-Sync monitor is the Acer XB271HU (27" IPS).
It is currently $799.20 with 20% off code PLUGNPLAY on JW's Ebay page until April 23rd:
      https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Acer-XB271HU-27-WQHD-G-Sync-144H…

My pick for best Freesync monitor would be the AOC AG322QCX (31.5" curved IPS).
It is currently $599.25 with 5% off code PULL5 on FTC's Ebay page:
      https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/AOC-AGON-AG322QCX-31-5-WQHD-144H…

      Cheers

      • Hey, any idea of the differences between the Acer XB271HU and the Acer XB271HUA? thanks.
