Crazy review scores for this game. Hype now in full gear, bring on Friday.

    • Yep, looks pretty interesting. That whole 1 camera action, damn cool!

  • +1

Will I be able to price match if I preordered in Jbhifi?

    • +4

you should be able to, but I see Jb changing the price and running the same deal.

      • Thanks for the info buddy!

      • where? it's 79 for me

        • He's predicting they will drop the price, it hasn't happened yet.

        • @stublu: oh got it cheers

      • OP, does that catalogue contain any worthily switch games/ console deals?

        • Don't know, i only got the screenshot for the god of war price.

    • Your tight arse gaming prayers: answered. https://www.jbhifi.com.au/games-consoles/platforms/playstati…

  • +13

    Heavens to Betsey, meh backlog!

    • Yes know that feeling.

    • It always grows more than it gets completed. :(

    • +2

I only just started Persona 5 after finishing Horizon Zero Dawn, thinking I'm making good progress on my backlog.

Nope…just ordered the limited edition of Gow. Lol

      • Oh dude Persona 5 by itself is gonna eat your next few months

  • +3

    Hype is HUGE!!

Will be a rare day one purchase for me (my only 2017 day one purchase was Odyssey = my GoTY)

    • +1

Even though this is not the "Day one Edition" :D

God of War Day One Edition includes:

God of War PlayStation 4 Game
      Alternative Sleeve

      Digital Content:

      Dynamic Theme
      Buckler of the Forge
      Dokkenshieldr
      Shining Elven Soul Shield
Exclusive Defender of the Chosen Shield

Probably it won't make such a difference.

      • +4

Useless shit by the look of it

      • +4

Ask yourself if the extra $30.95 from EB is worth this content.

        It isn't.

        • +1

My local EB said they would price match their day one edition with the Big W price here.

        • +2

@KegofCanz: Lucky. Most EB store managers get butt hurt when you try to price match a different edition. They full on lose it. Like immature kids.

        • +3

@RocketSwitch: As someone that worked at EB for 5 years, it's not a manager thing, it's a staff culture. It makes no real difference to their lives, but it's a control thing. This is why the hardline policies are generally ignored by most stores, but some are dicks about it

        • @RocketSwitch: LOL! That's because you gotta earn your stripes with them by paying full RRP on their games without asking for a price match. It's all about KPI's and max profits.

        • @RocketSwitch:

Because most of them ARE kids. ;)

        • @boredofficeworker: The ones I deal with seem like they're late 20s, early 30s. The kids that work there are awesome.

        • @noodlesfordaddy: Yes, there are only a few that are "dicks about" price matching. I've found most eb games staff are fair and nice about things. The 1 time I priced matched with day 1 edition there in store, they had the non-day-1 edition there ready for price matching. Once at Wollongong EB they refused to price match Warrawong Big W, claiming that because Big W was at Warrawong (about 5km away) , they didn't have to price match. I usually go to Warrawong Eb games store now, manager there is really nice, older gentleman with glasses, nerdy gamer type, but a top bloke in customer service and manners. These days I would have sent online feedback straight away to head office, about Wollongong EB games being so dodgy back then (about 5 years ago) . Customer service really does make or break a business model in the long run, ie. 1 bad experience has stopped me going to Wollongong Eb games, whereas good experiences of customer service have kept me returning to Warrawong Eb store.

        • Yeah I remember buying the Star Wars Battlefront II Elite Stormtrooper Edition for like $120. The game was $39 after a couple weeks during Black Friday sales and now like $35. After that I don't think I'll be buying those expensive edition as what you're getting is not worth it.

        • @RocketSwitch: I wasn't being overly literal. :)

        • @RocketSwitch:

i actually had the reverse happen, i already had a pre-order on the day one edition and wanted to price match JB price, the young kid was like oh ok if you want to price match we have to change it to the normal standard edition, i wasn't bothered but then the Manager goes no its a pre-order i can still have the day one edition at the price match its only if you do a walk in and want the day one edition that they will not price match that version and price match the standard version.

        • @spedstyle: That is what I mean. Inconsistent between stores. EB said it is a service not a policy to price match. Either way, always take your business to the store that gets it.

      • Where is the Day One edition available?

    • +16

Yes it is. It's much like PUBG.

        • +1

Not knowing 1 thing does not mean someone is stupid. And if a person is 'stupid' it is cruel to tell them. The word 'stupid' is highly subjective, there are different types of intelligence, and if I was to compare myself to the general IQ of majority of the population, I could call them (and most likely you) 'stupid' but I do not do that because it is rude and I do not need to put others down to make myself feel better. What he was most likely hinting at, was is this 'online only' because there are some games which cannot be played without connecting online (and not everyone can afford home wifi). An individual who has never played these games which require online access, could organically conclude that you need to be online because you need to play multiplayer with others online. I believe they made Gran Turismo ps4 mostly online only, due to some deal where it is registered with a motorsport body (best times etc) so to ensure it is all fair with rules of the motorsport body, it has to keep everything online. I only know this about Gran Turismo through reading into it and researching out of interest. If I did not know this, or someone who doesn't game much does not know something, it does NOT mean they are stupid, it just means they have better things to do than play video games all day every day.

        • @ozzpete: oh man. Now I don't know if this guy is trolling. That was a far too long and polite defence of an indefensibly silly question.

        • @Lysander: Your posts are heavily negative focused, try being a bit more positive.

      • +1

More like PUB God (of War)

    • +1

No, of course it is not. It is a God of War game with an extensive and immersive story.
But of course you could have used Google yourself.

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/God_of_War_(2018_video_game)

    • Not sure if troll or stupid

      • +3

        Why not both?

        • Some troll from Witcher 3.

    • Its not godS of war… so nope

    • +2

Yes but it's limited to one player in multiplayer mode.

  • +3

Hopefully Amazon Australia will price match it.

    • +2

      they have

    • Do Amazon ship games early to get them to you on launch day? My nearest Big W is a bit of a drive away so it might be easier to just get home from work and have it in the mail.

      • The international Amazon certainly does and you often see US players getting the game 1-2 days earlier than the launch date as a result.

  • Thinking if I can somehow preorder tomorrow with the family and friends discount. Can anyone advise me?

  • +1

Fantastic, i was scared i was going to have to pay ebgames rip off price. Cheers!

    • +1

A true horror no tight arse gamer should ever have to face. Combine that with a request to pre order something else, trade in some used games and buy an accessory and you have the stuff of nightmares.

  • +8

yeah day 1 editions are just so other retailers like EB games can try get out of price match guarantee i have a pre-order with EB they put it on the day 1 edition i said as long as you still price match it i don't care what edition it is i am not paying more for a stupid theme and equipment that is normally useless after first few hours.

    • Out of interest, why bother pre-ordering with EB - is it mostly because if you can price match then why not.

      • +1

only pre-ordered @EB as i was doing the old 7 day renting of another game and its only store within walking distance i would have to jump in the Car to go to a big W, target or JB hifi, if they didnt price match i wouldn't bother.

        • Careful they don't ban you for abusing the system. Disgusting that EB sell your cast off used games as "new".

        • +1

@Aussie World Warrior: Yes, I think the head office must keep track of such things. I got banned from trading Fifa titles, lol, because I was buying fifa 16 from CEX entertainment exchange store for like $6 and trading at Eb for about $11. Traded 4 copies of fifa at different stores, different times, (2 on xbox 2 on ps4, as per their policy), the stores who did it were totally fine, then a week or so later, I was told I was not not allowed to trade any fifa titles any more (but can trade anything else) .
NOTE: for anyone thinking of doing the same with CEX entertainment exchange, CEX are now a ripoff really, they still buy an older or not so popular game for $4, but where they used to sell that games for about $6, now they buy for $4>>sell for $15 :/ If you look through their online buy/sell prices, they have totally gone downhill rapidly in their pricing of both buying and selling. Most things they buy for like 1/4 of what they then sell the used product for.

  • +1

Just need a good PS4 deal now

    • +2

I'd say there will be bundles with GoW. I suppose it's too late for their to be an official one but retailers will bundle it probably.

    • +1

Gamesmen have bundles of Pro with this game for around 509, not too bad

Edit: I see Big W has the far better offer

  • +20

    Thank you OP!

I reckon that we (IMO) support BIG W with their excellent pricing, rather than going to price match elsewhere. If these guys (BIG W) go off the VG console market - we will be potentially get screwed by EB/ JB/ Target with ridiculous pricing as a result of lesser competition!

    • +8

I agree. Have to support these guys, if EB become the only store we are (profanity)!

    • Preach the holy gospel of game buying procedures in this fine country. Yes, buy where it's cheapest. No need to price match. If EB can't be arsed lowering their prices without being prompted why should you go there and beg for a price match? And that's not the end of it. You have to endure all manner of upsell and add on questions as well. None of that drama anywhere else.

  • +3

69 is typical launch price at Big W for the big releases in my experience

I believe Far Cry 5, GTA, Destiny etc were same price.

    • Seems pretty reasonable to me, to be honest. I'll still wait for price drops but you sure do get plenty of game for your money with most AAA games nowadays.

      • +4

Remember ps3 days when games came out above 100

        • Yeah that's what I was thinking. And the games are just becoming bigger and better, naturally.

        • I remember buying my first PS2 game, Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly, for $100 from EB. God damn that was a disappointment.

  • preordered Collector's edition , cant wait

    • Where from and how much?

      • At EB, about $199 if i am right. I have one as well, didnt know CE sold out within a hour.

        • Going for at least $399 on eBay.

      • yes, $199 at EB, sold out in few hours. Also preordered from Amazon USA the Stone Mason collector's edition for AUD 190. probably will cancel EB edition.

        • That's awesome. Shipping for that now works out to be $349.

        • I just tried to order and cost me around $340 to Sydney.

I am happy with EB one ;)

  • The marketing team are doing a good job hyping this game up, making it hard to resist getting it on day one, but I'll do my best to wait for it to drop to $40's

    • Me too. The hype is infecting my mind.

      • when do you guys think it will drop to the $40s?

        • A year at least, two years sounds about right.

I'm getting it tonight, can't wait that long.

        • @RocketSwitch:
me too… need to see what the hype is about

  • Ahh crap, just preorder couple days ago…. Will Gumtree it in QLD for around 50, once i finish it

  • Reviews for the game are off the charts!!!

  • Awesome. Now i just need to wait for a cheap PS4 deal. Any good ones at the moment?

    • You are a week (slightly more) too late

  • OP should add the PS4 Bundle onto this post as a deal, very tempting price…

    • +1

I dont see it as much of a deal considering eb games is offering a 1tb with 3 games: far cry 5, uncharted 4, and lost legacy for $499

      • Damn will have to check that out, thanks OP

  • God of 69

  • Yay meet and match my ebgames preorder

  • Can I buy it in store? or I have to order online?

    • +1

      You can buy instore.

  • JB Hi-Fi now also riding the tight arse gaming train to station 69. https://www.jbhifi.com.au/games-consoles/platforms/playstati…

    • +3

BIG W opens at 8am, big w wins! lol

      • +1

Jealous, some of us have to go to work.

        • I got it on Friday morning, then worked whole day. Yes, I have strong work ethic, hahaha~

  • JB always price matches or does better.

  • +2

I wish there was a God of War + PS4 controller bundle that was a little cheaper than buying individual. My controller somehow broke when I was playing Bloodborne.

      • +1

I think he jsut wants a controller

      • That's a pretty good bundle, I just wanted the game and controller though, I went to JB and bought both anyway. Thx!

  • +1

Can get it from Amazon today for $59 delivered minimum if you combine with another $10 item, for new users with AMAZON20.
