  • OP perhaps amend title to Receiver.

    • Thanks, i before e except after c never really stuck with me.

      • -1

That's good because i before e except after c is wrong.

  • Seems like a good price for something that will do 4K/60 and HDR…doesn't mention HDR10 though?

No wifi makes it less good, as I stream spotify and would hate to have to run a cable to give it internet.

    • doesn't mention HDR10 though?

According to AV Tech Reviews, it supports HDR10:

Across the top, the 383 has a row of four HDMI inputs and one output. HDCP 2.2, BT .2020 and HDR (High Dynamic Range Video) are all supported. HDR has become a little complicated now that there are a few different HDR standards. Wisely, Yamaha has built-in support for most of the major ones; HDR10, Dolby Vision, and HLG (Hybrid Log-Gamma). The latter two will be available with an unspecified firmware update.

as I stream spotify and would hate to have to run a cable to give it internet.

You can use phone or tablet to stream Spotify and push it via Bluetooth to the 3071.

    • I don't understand why receivers specify 4k etc, they're only dealing with audio, right?

      • AVR = audio video receiver

        • Thanks but I still don't get it lol. If you have a PS4/BluRay player etc, why would you not just plug connect it straight to the TV?

        • @scrottyB:

Tv speaks are junk compared to a quality surround sound system.

        • @noise36: I get that totally. But why does video need to be passed through there?

Slightly cheaper here if you factor in free postage: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Yamaha-HTR-3071-RX-V383-5-1ch-10…

  • I wish a shop would do those ripper deals on the Yamaha v383’s again!

    • This is a V383, with perhaps one or two minor differences (none that I found in the Quick Start Guide.)

      • A few shops have done the 383 for $299 delivered and I missed out, haha!

  • Any 5.1 speaker recommendations to go with this?

If you don't need Bluetooth and USB you can get the Yamaha home theatre in a box.

YHT-1840B can be found for about $440.

      • oooh will check that out thanks

Yamaha HTR-2071 which is equivalent to Yamaha V383 is available on Catch for $289 with free shipping. Not sure how much difference there is between the one posted, but if both equal to V383 then Catch is a better deal?

    • The "HTR" equivalent of the RX-V383 is the HTR-3071. See Luigi's comment and link above.

    • Doing this from memory but they are not the same.

The HTR-2071 lacks Bluetooth and USB, which this one has.

    • No Bluetooth and a few other things.
