This is ultrasharp so top end with heaps of creature comforts.

    • Sorry mate, I have no idea.

But what I do know is that Dell has next day advance warranty (new one sent out first, send the old one back), zero dead pixels.

      both are bad.

  • Still thinking worth to change from 2x22" 16:10 to ultra wide.

    • worth it but reckon 34inch. not 29inch

      • I went from a 27" and 24" to a 34" a year and a bit ago, I definitely wouldn't go 29 inch as a replacement for 2.

  • ewww 1080p on this.
    no thanks
    16.7 million colours
    no thanks

ill stick with my ultra high power usage u2711

It says 29in but because it's an ultrawide the actual size feels smaller than a 27in. Not to mention most games don't support this res and no freesync or g-sync. It's marketed as a productivity tool but if you've ever used applications on a widescreen you'll know it's an exercise in frustration. I've seen this type of panel cheaper in the past too.

most recent games are supporting ultra wide resolution. even some old games. ultra wide is good for FPS and driving games.

I own the previous gen of this model, and you’re right. The extra width does mean the vertical height is shorter than a 16:9 or 16:10. However, you’re totally wrong about games not supporting it. Every game I have tried from AOE2 HD to Sea of Thieves works perfectly. I haven’t had a game, particularly a Games that’s from the last 5 years or so not work.

Freesync and G-Sync is something to consider if it’s important to you, but has never impacted me personally. For work, it’s a dream. You can fit two applications side by side without feeling like you’re compromising. I find it hard using a non ultra-widescreen, even multimonitor setups.

        How about 34" 1080p?

        • Rocking a 34 inch ultrawide, would say it is the same height of an 24 or 27 inch, some games have some issues with 21x9 (csgo, mirrors edge, the old games will have some slight issue) if ultrawide works, it feels really immersive, but requires a decent gpu as you are runnning those extra pixels

        • @Bargain4Days:

My 29” inch at 2560x1080 hits the sweet spot for me with my rig at the moment. My GTX 970 can run everything at max settings, with a min of 60 fps.

I’m happy with the res, and it also plays movies without the horizontal blackbars. If youre looking at a 34inch ultrawide, I’d recommend looking at models with the higher res. 2560x1080 34inch models dont look great from what I’ve seen.

So in that case around the same height as my 16:10 22".

I will mainly use it for work, I am thinking with Ultrawide I can look at the centre of the screen again :) not like 2 x 22"

Hope the MSY $299 LG 34" similar deal will come back.

I often wonder how anyone can work with a single monitor setup. Having dual monitor is already such a productivity increase. Having ultrawide just makes you even more productive. You can even work and play at the same time without impacting too much on work.

        • I have an AW3418DW and don't consider it nearly as productive as having 2 27 inch 1440 monitors. Far superior for gaming but for me at least it's not wide enough for productivity on it's own.

2x34 inch UWs would be heaven but one is not a replacement for 2x27inch.

  • My dream is to have 2 ultra wide monitors, one NUC, one laptop, all in my own study/work room.
