Can NAS drives be used on normal computers?
Yes certainly. Although it is on the more expensive side for disks. They cost more due to the fact they are engineered for RAID
Thanks
It shows 20$ delivery to perth :(
Awesome. Finally less than $300 for instant tax deduction.
Although the receipt will show the full price
Oh. I thought it was 20% off so would show the lesser price? Unlike the Amex deal where you get the 'kickback' post the purchase, I thought the discount was applied to the purchase price there and then.
I think either way it would be either 100% of $297 straight away or 66.67% on $371 (pro-rata from now until 30 June) and then more straight line dep of 66.67 for the remainder for the next few years.
FYI. Just bought one. I think 6 left.
??? elaborate
you pay 80% ebay/paypal pay 20%
Your receipt from the supplier should show the full price they have received
No, I mean it sounds like he's claiming it on his ATO tax somehow instantly or something?
@hamwhisperer:
I am no accountant but from my understanding anything under $300 can be deducted at tax time. Anything over would need to be depreciated over a number of years@pacsman: correct.
Wow awesome price thanks OP!
Wouldn't this be cheaper if you don't mind shucking it?
These are designed for Raid arrays. The WD Book will die in 6 months in a raid array.
The WD Book has a WD Red NAS hard drive in it which is a direct competitor to the Seagate ironwolfs.
This statement is not entirely true. It is thought that it is a red but has not been 100% confirmed (unless someone can prove me incorrect) as the model numbers are different of the drives.
Also if you were to shuck the drives the warranty would be questionable.@pacsman: ahh yeh you're right. The WD EasyStore book has Reds and the WD Mybook has the White label

There's minimal difference between the Red Label and White label

@Homr: I mainly wanted the Ironwolfs due to their partnership with Synology though and the extra data available

@pacsman: If this deal still has stock when I get home I might buy one aswell. I really CBF shucking the WD mybook that I bought already.
Price has just gone up to $407.33. Used to be $371.91.
At this new price, the discounted amount will be $325.86.
Didn't think it would last long
Makes me feel like I bought an item at an extra special discount (IE. before the usual price hikes people complain about). :-)
I just hope they honor the sale.
DOH!!!!
freaking price jackers!!!!
Received my drive today, all good. Thanks for posting ben1103.
Do you know which courier company they used for you?
I think it was toll.
Yep looks like mine was also delivered yesterday by Toll as well. I had a missed delivery card. Wish the courior sent it to a collection point rather than the depot for a redelivery.
Yeah, my mate got his Yesterday. My eBay message estimates 15 April for me. I just cannot believe it was less than 24 hours to deliver for him. He got the message from eBay that his delivery are being sent AFTER he actually received it.
Just got mine today 13 April so only 3 days from order to delivery. Damn that was fast. I'm too used to getting things from overseas. :-)
Already bought 2 at 10am :)
Comes via courier express shipping
