  • Does it include sandpaper?

    • +1

I'll deliver sandpaper to you in person jv. You're in VIC afterall!

  • are these waterproof (ie suitable for running)?

  • +2

Damn, was waiting for a deal on these but ended up buying the Jabra Halo Smart's instead :(

  • Can anyone comment on the ANC quality for commuting by suburban train? How much of a step up are these likely to be from my Meizu EP51s?

    • +1

EP51s never had ANC at all.

      • Sorry, I should have asked my question more clearly.
I'm wondering how the overall listening experience is likely to be with these Tronsmarts v my current EP51s.
Is ANC likely to be noticeable on a suburban Sydney train? I've previously used ANC headphones 7 or 8 years ago and found that they worked ok to cancel the steady hum of airplane engines, but were less effective with many other noises. I presume that the technology has improved since then though.

        • Good ANC (eg. Bose QC35) does cancel out the noise in Sydney trains even down to natural conversations that are further than 3m away. Any other noise is drowned out by music you play from your device. Obviously that is pretty much the benchmark, so there is no way that 50 dollar devices will compare to that level of ANC. I'd expect this to drown out the hums as you say but other noise will probably still come through. The worst thing about BT Headphones (especially low powered buds like these) are interference from other 2.4Ghz devices all around.

  • is it a rebranding leophile zero? The images look identical.

    • AUKey has same looking one too

    • It uses the same chip as this one. AS3421 from AMS.

I am sure there is a generic design and folks just buy the right to use the design.

  • Got mine today… not sure if it's me or the ANC if any is very little. This is comparing to the QC25 and XM2. Could be that the buds are a perfect fit in my ear canal that it already blocked the noise.

    • So overall what do you think of it?

      • +1

Decent sound… bass needs a bit of work as in its there but not overly punchy. ANC pretty sure is non existent I tested this with the exhaust fan that I know gets drowned out with my Bose and Sony headphones.

It seems like the default sound profile is boosted volume across the range. Played my normal test songs at the same volume and it was louder.

        Verdict is…

Perfect price for earphones that will last all day. Comfy as. Only issue is the wires hanging off the band. If it gets snagged might run into broken wires. So if your carrying it around better buy a case or a bag for it to into. Bought them for work so I don’t have wires and I don’t look like I have toothbrush heads in my ears and they last the whole day.

Just tested again, this time with a different type of ambient sound.

Can hear the reduction, would be I say about 50% reduction in the volume of the ambient sound. Sort of dulls it. Not as complete as the Bose and Sony but it does make a difference.

This was a PC fan and a case fan.

Hrmmm might be certain frequencies it does very well. The neighbors garage was opening and shutting and I did not hear that with the earphones in and I did with them out.

Need to test them out on the bus/train/plane.

I will let you know how I go in a noisy office environment tomorrow.

      • Ok in an office setting… just a slight dull in ambient noise. I wouldn't call it active noise cancellation because it doesn't work, when compared to Bose and Sony.

Noise reduction is more than likely due to the nice tight fit the buds have due to the different tips.

Will test with a frequency sweep and see if it is true that it just dulls high frequency noise. I had a look at the data sheet for the noise cancellation driver and it didn't shed much light other than saying in reduced noise by 90% (IIRC).

Good news is the neck buds are comfy AF and I haven't had the need to take them out at all. Overall a win for me and they are still full charge. From morning to lunch.

        • Thanks for the comprehensive review mate. I'm looking at using these for a plane flight on my next trip overseas. I'm still torn on getting these or not since I haven't come across any onboard flight reviews.

        • @Hero: Going to test it with this noise…

          https://youtu.be/_eAB_bEA4_w - A330

See how well it reduces that.

        • @jlogic: haha. Let me know how you go :)

        • +1

@Hero: It just dulls the noise… it is still there but lower volume. Not 90% reduction that is for sure in regards to airplane noise.

          This is for both clips.

        • @jlogic: Awesome. Thanks man. I might give it a pass. I've got heaps of headphones at the moment and I don't want to add this to the dusting collection.

        • +1

Tested on road and bus and yeps just a dulling of the noise.

I think the design is basically for you to play sounds and the ANC helps reduce the ambient sound as it seems to work better when some music is playing.

Read some reviews and swear they are shills… there is no way this is even 50% of a Bose or Sony.

Music played was some pop, classical and some rock.

  • +1

Ok these aren't so good ANC but it allows two active BT connections so this is great for me with two phones.

Battery last all day so that is a plus.

Buy these for the above and comfort. Happy camper.

Ok ran a frequency sweep and no ANC whatsoever.

Anyone else with this that can test? I am not sure if I have a defective one or not.

It’s like non existent. Yet reviews say it reduces.

    • It helps lots with high volume exhaust fan like the xltasitc fans
It helps drown the train announcement.
It helps with air conditioning Hume in office
So it seems only cancel out certain range.

      So say 20 - 50% in general.

Agree with @jlogic on the other stuff.

      • Maybe it is… wish the data sheet had more info.

Definitely not Bose or Sony level.
