This looks cheap if its not a glitch. I believe its for an Apple display judging by the manufacturer code. Might be worth something for those interested.

I m not aware of such a scheme and I am an apple part time user as well. Usually when you buy a product you have upto a year to purchase an extended warranty maybe thats what you are referring to. This usually is worth a lot more not sure whats the catch and I would not be surprised at all if there is one.

Can someone clarify, i thought usually these applecare tell you what the warranty is for (eg imac, macbook, monitor) but its not specified on the HT site?

No way this would apply to macbooks/pro for sure. Talk to apple and they will confirm this as well. Apple has different applecare plans for different size laptops as well and they are priced differently.

ht come up with some good deals fro time to time, next time (if/when) they discount the current tablets (intuos) I'm getting one. The last time they did, they were cheaper than buying with the student discount.

This won't cover your Mac Pro. It only covers Apple Displays.
Applecare gives your extended coverage for all parts and labor to replace those parts to 3 years from the purchase dates. I also give you 3 years of unlimited technical support with the applecare support phone line.
Take note this does not cover any software issues. The amount of times people have come in saying the mac is running slow and they've mucked it up, then they rage when its not covered under warranty. lol
