Don't do it. Or you'll accrue a bunch of junk that you some day will have to get rid of. Not everything is for everyone, and if it's not for you, don't get it just because it's cheap. This is a lesson I learned over several years.

I'd say go with the Sony. The PXC 550 has this bug where I sometimes can't make phone calls with it until I reboot it.
I have had the PXC-550 for a few months. Decided to buy this Sony. Love it from the 1st song I played. Sound quality is better I think. Now only thing I am worried about is the durability of the headband. Thanks for the advice.

In saying that, they are now showing up as being arriving on or before April 17th 24th (edit: christ that was fast!) if I order today (nearest store to me is four hours drive away so not practical to buy instore). Given the price, I think I can wait.

All NC headphones are like that. If you're annoyed with the hiss then switch off the NC - or buy non-NC headphones.

Research shows that this for the sound quality and Bose for the comfort I think.
How bout sound isolation?
Its a much tighter fit so it blocks out a little more sound at the cost of comfort. For outdoors use, stick to the cooler months and your ears wont heat up and sweat as quickly.
Also if you have larger ears and dont get the positioning right, it does hurt using them after an hour or so. If that happens, just adjust the positioning and loosen the headband a little.
Never had to do this on the Bose. Just wear 'em and make sure the batteries charged.
