    Payment gateway working again?

So many orders; so much clicking - all for nought.

    • hi,morrij,

is there any problem with payment?

      • Hi Joyee,

There was last week for at least 3 days that I tried. It might have been the week before but pretty sure last week. I had 15 odd orders that I couldn't pay for any via any method, kept getting error, notification was it would take several days to fix and I gave up.

Edit: If its working, might give it a try again.

Further edit: If you have any decent discounts on dafangs, always looking for them. If you get them below $30aud, I will buy a few. You guys have the newer stock (smaller carton) so prefer DD4's stock over LITB or GB.

Final Edit: Payment gateway working again, paying for some of my missing orders now. :)

        • hi,morrij,

Totally illegal to offer this for sale in Australia.

whats really funny, this is probably much better quality thn most of the junk in bunnings

    • Not illegal, it's just technically not certified.

    • +1

Illegal to sell within Australia, yes……. Spoiler alert: DD4 isn't located in Australia!

      • +1

Definitely illegal to OFFER for sale. This is from the NSW legislation, however all states are similar:

        sell includes:
        (a) auction or exchange,
        (b) offer, agree or attempt to sell,
        (c) advertise, expose, send, forward or deliver for sale,
        (d) cause or permit to be sold or offered for sale,
        (e) hire or cause to be hired, and
        (f) display for sale or hire.

If the seller is in China, then it would fall back to point (c) as the first Australian person in the chain.

Funny that people here wouldn't use a non-certified and AU-approved car baby seat, yet they blindly believe that non-certified High Risk electrical equipment is perfectly fine.

        • I'm too big for a baby seat, or I might use one.

  • What type of plug is it at the back? Australian or other international plug?

    • CN standard.thx.

    • Upside down Australian plug (chinese plug).

      • correct.

    • Cheers. However according to this site: https://www.tour-beijing.com/blog/beijing-travel/beijing-tou… it says the Chinese plug will fit into the Australian socket, but loosely, due to the pins on Chinese plugs are thinner. So if you have a couple of heavy plugs attached to this power strip, won't they weigh this power strip down and cause it to come loose from the wall socket?

      • Hot glue :)

      • -1

You can only really use these on an extension cord. The reason is it's an upside down plug and there is no plastic recess you would see on an AU plug.

This means when you press it flush with the socket (push it in), the casing will sit over the powerpoint switch - making it half on/half off, meaning you cant push it all the way to the wall.

Same problem with majority of smart sockets etc. Only really useful if used on an extension cable or powerboard.

  • Does this has any issues with the power switch?

    • Issues like what? A clash of personalities?

      • It will block the power switch. As it's upside down AU plug and won't have a plastic recess, it will sit flush against the socket, the bulky part of this will cover the switching mechanism on most power switches.

AU plugs for whatever reason almost always have a plastic recess - small round mounted bit to prevent them sitting flush against the power socket.

        • "Plastic recess" is the wrong term - I think you mean a "plastic protrusion" or "plastic boss". If so, then the reason is so that the plug part will fit fully into the socket yet not push on the switches.

@llama: Yeah plastic boss. This item doesnt have a plastic boss, hence it can't be used on 99% of AU plugs directly.

If you have recessed switches (push to power) it would work, otherwise nope, use a powerboard.

          @MorriJ:

I've got a dozen of these all over the house and office covering a multitude of different power outlets.

Whilst I'll concede that the inverted plus does make it hard to access the switch on some of them, it doesn't prevent any from plugging in safely with the switch fully on or off.

But then, I am right handed…
