Good price but no Dolby Atmos or DTS:X
If it had those it wouldn't be in this price range! I think our receiver has Dolby true but I've never seen it used. Only ever DTS or Dolby Digital/plus. Are those two decoders only useful if you watch blurays? Or do some streaming services utilise them too?
Netflix does Atmos, but it only works via select LG OLED TV's, or XBOX One S/X consoles
Try watching some Blurays. Most have HD sound.

The TX-SR252 can decode Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD "
Yeah, waiting for an atmos deal now as my old amp has started to act up.
Currently, the best I can see is Denon AVRX1400 for ~$580 delivered from amazon.de

Explosive sound, sound's dangerous!
any deals on speaker packs to go with this?
Seems pretty decent, any feedback on the amp itself or similar from anyone. Have always bought Yamaha’s in the $500 range before
Same but my 7/8 year old one has packed it in over the weekend. Heard some good things about this brand but always go with what I know
Pass through HDR?
Yeah wondering if this covers 4K/HDR10 if anyone knows.
My tx sr333 doesn;t have HDR. Unless this is a newer model, I doubt it, especially at this price.
Be wary of the power ratings on these receivers. They're very deceptive, using 6 ohms instead of 8, and 1kHz, not 20-20kHz.
Otherwise, Onkyo is a decent brand for receivers. https://www.reddit.com/comments/5zt8mw?sort=top
Bit suprising to not see any of them for sale on Ebay or Gumtree.
Hmmm, does that have implications for these speakers then?

Impedance 6 Ohms is fine but what about Frequency Response 55 Hz–25 KHz
Does anyone on here actually have one? I know these are the entry level. I have a Sony amp from 15 years ago which is no use anymore. Will connect to 4K LG TV with HDMI 2.0
Note no network connection.
So less to go wrong, simpler remote, less drain on the power supply, one less source of noise in the case, and able to take the output of a network connected device then?
I see that as a feature :-p
If you are signed up, you can get it down to $200 on-line with a coupon. To $200? how did you manage that?
Whoops, I misread it - it's $200 off with coupon - so exactly the same offer as made here, except made more enticing by being 'personally ' addressed with a code [/s].
@terrys So there is less to go wrong by using a third party device to achieve DLNA functionality. How does adding another device mean there is less to go wrong? What options and how much?
I was just letting people know that they are missing a feature that has become common place.
There is less to go wrong in the amplifier - the whole point of an amplifier is that you then add discrete components, each engineered for the task they perform. If I choose to buy an amplifier, I do so knowing it doesn't come with an attached turntable, cd-player, cassete deck and speakers. Nor does it come with a monitor. In the same vein I don't particularly see the addition of the extra circuitry with commensurate potential for noise, earth-loops ect merely to provide a function that is not in anyway a necessary part of amplifying is a particulary worthwhile feature, given that most discrete components I would attach to such an amplifier would, were they capable of utilising a network media source one was desirous of amplifying, have a network connection already.
I was just letting people know it was no big thing.
I bought the tx sr333. It also has bluetooth and a couple of extra hdmi inputs.Comes with a 3 year warranty. Great amp. Only fault is it only runs at 60 watts per channel, but that's ample for my requirements. Any questions. feel free to ask.
That's only twice as loud as 6 watts…
Great deal. waiting patiently for a deal on an 11 channel amp.
