DXO is really good stuff, thanks to our god TA for delivering us this gift.
Keep in mind that they nerfed the free version of this software. It now doesn't include their patented noise cleaning feature. Something to note if you have an older version that includes this feature
Is this better than using an old version of photoshop cs2 for graphic design, etc? Thoughts haha?

You may want to look into affinity designer apparently it's like Photoshop and illustrator
Why not use gimp? I've found it to be pretty fully featured. And with the scripting function can make batch processing of things a breeze.

DxO is great software use it all the time for RAW images i take but can also use it for JPG. Really user friendly and thoroughly recommended
