As long as the toolbox we are talking about is your wife's kitchen toolbox.

Minimum tape measure for us Y chromosome carriers is an 8m Lufkin or Stanley.

    'us Y chromosome carriers'. Lol

  • What are the best coals to buy for a Kettle Weber?

I’ve been using the Heat Beats with built in lighter fuel and find them disappointing. I’m only new to the Kettle scene tho so trying to figure out the best ones for taste

Can't really tell the difference between the pro and the garden variety line just yet. Just buy the cheapest ones and they still have a better flavour than Heat Beads. Going to try the Kingsford ones from Costco soonish when my current pile of Firebrand runs out. Experimenting with different wood chips at the moment.

I've been low n slow bbqing and kettle bbqing for years. If you want briquettes, the original heat beads and the hot shots are great. For the love of god don't use the yellow easy light heat beads, they are awful and shouldn't exist.

If you're buying them because you're finding them a pain to light otherwise, grab a charcoal chimney starter and light your BBQ wok burner underneath it for a few minutes and you'll have a chimney full of ashed over, ready to cook briquettes in no time.

chuck in some eucalyptus/gumtree wood chips. Brings your BBQ/Smoking to another level…

  • No point buying a generic tape measure separately IMO. So many random tool kits include one anyway and if you didn't have a household tape measure yet you probably don't have much else either so better off buying one of those kits anyway.

Or if you're a real OzBargainer you'd just stick together freebie paper tapes from IKEA ;)

  • I found Hot Shots to be garbage as they dont burn for long.
