Do you have any examples where Expedia is cheaper than cheap tickets? I've pretty much solely booked via cheap tickets for all accommodation needs over the last few years as its always the cheapest. Expedia never comes close so i am surprised by your comment.
Two hotels I booked recently in Singapore, and another two hotels in Bangkok.
Saved over $100AUD for just a 4 night stay in Brisbane using Orbitz instead of Expedia. So I'm surprised by his comment too. I would still be surprised if Expedia was indeed cheaper for SG or BKK because CheapTickets & Orbitz are both owned by Expedia.
Expedia is cheaper for the bookings I made in Singapore and Bangkok because, unlike CheapTickets, it does not cap the discount. This is a huge saving when you use the current Expedia/Mastercard discount of 11%. For example, on my recent bookings I made savings of $217, $378 and $627.
ah yes the capping. well I guess one could split the booking up (coupon can be used twice) to save more than expedia + MC. shouldn't be a problem for the hotel to keep you in the same room without having to check out then back in. but yeah, only in those rare cases where you would exceed a saving of $150USD could expedia actually be cheaper. so your first comment was rather misleading.

However, I stand by my original observation and disagree with your assumption that "only in rare cases would you exceed a saving of $150USD", excluding the Expedia/Mastercard discount. FWIW in my experience, more than 80% of my bookings over the last 6 years have resulted in savings of $AU200 or more. Each to their own.
I've just used cheap tickets head and shoulders cheaper than all aussie sites Inc Expedia .. cheapest aussie price $1400 got it for $1100 once converted Inc max $150 off using code.
May I ask in which country you found value when booking with CheapTickets?

I've never booked through cheaptickets before. How does it differ from expedia? It looks like the same website. Do you have to work out the currency conversion yourself, or can you pay in aud on the final page somehow? I have an ANZ travel rewards card, so i'm pretty sure i don't get foreign exchange fees. Any help would be great. Thanks
Just work out the conversion using a site such as www.xe.com it won't be exact but you'll get an idea of the cost.

The code may not be applicable to the hotel/chain you're booking. for eg it never works on Meriton Suites.
I always seem to get let down at the last step by hotels that only allow you to reserve the room instead of paying upfront (and therefore not able to apply the discount code). Is there anyway to get around this and pay upfront?
Frankly I do not see the value in booking with either CheapTickets or Orbitz. Expedia is consistently more competitive, even more so with its current Mastercard offer (which expires at the end of this month).
