Basic plan for example:

    Almost didn't recognize you, Clear.

You look so different with out the mustache.

    • +1

Just a placeholder until the new one arrives.

      • +1

Looks like an army trooper seeing something bad.

  • How is this compared to Godaddy hosting? I see that the Godaddy basic plan is a bit more generous, so I'm wondering if Zuver, outside this promo, is better at?

Edit: After looking at the Godaddy site a bit more I see that I was looking at the 'sale' price and that usually Godaddy's basic plan is much more expensive.

    • +7

I've never used GoDaddy, but have only ever heard (a lot) of bad things about them.

Zuver I've been using for about 2 years now, and have had a good experience. They're Australian based, including support. Granted my needs are very modest (just email and a couple of static pages only I ever use) but it's been more than adequate for my needs.

      • +1

+1 to that. Their support have been useful when an update killed my website at 12am once.

      • One thing GoDaddy may be Good at: It's only US$8 (or is it Au$8…?) to Transfer a domain In (to them), w/ 1 yr Renewal included)

Some have variable pricing (lowest ~$9 highest much more), depending on domain's TLD.

We don't want anything more than Rego for our 14 domains, ie, now that Zuber's got such a low price for hosting. :-)

Which HYML server do they use?

      • +1

Hey Magicmoose, do Zuver (and specifically, this deal) enable you to create your own email domain?

        • +1

Yes, if you have (or register) a domain and hosting with Zuver, you can host your own email.

        • @magicmoose: I see, so Zuver don't offer registering of email domains, only hosting them?

If it's not too much trouble, what are some email registering services you've used before?

        • @ml17: There's no such thing as an "email domain", just a regular domain that is used for email (and can be used for other things as well).

Zuver doesn't offer email-only hosting as some other companies do, but their regular hosting includes email.

If you want email, get a domain from Zuver, get the $3 a month hosting, and go from there.

If for some reason you specifically want a service that can only be used for email, check out VentraIP. They're the company that owns Zuver and have an excellent reputation. It'll probably be more expensive though.

        • @ml17: @magicmoose: as magicmoose has already stated, there's no such thing as an email only domain.

If you purchase the domain name from Zuver/VentraIP you get access to email forwarding which could let you forward to say another address like Gmail addresses. Forwarding is not really the best set up and it's probably best to pay for email hosting.

Hosting plans at Zuver are not the most ideal situation you're limited to 5 GB of emails stored on the server as mentioned in the acceptable use policy. https://zuver.net.au/docs/zuver-acceptable-use-policy-v3-1.p…

If you're only looking for emails and can live with the restrictions (Webmail access only) you could try Zoho Mail or purchase dedicated email from another provider for example Microsoft Office 365 or Google G Suite.

As magicmoose mentioned VentraIP also offer a dedicated email solution and there is also no limit on the hosting plans on how much email can be stored on the server. You can also get a dedicated email solution from Net Virtue. However the most cost-effective dedicated email solution is offered by Net Origin.

Godaddy is terrible and way overpriced. I’m a web Designer and switched myself and all my clients to Zuver just over a year ago, their servers & support are Australian Based and both are fantastic and even at the full $3 per month it’s a bargain imo.

    • great customer support, never had any outages. can't complain

    • Used GoDaddy for 4 years, GoDaddy = horrible.
Been with Zuver for 2 years now, the best and the cheapest I've ever used.

Their parent company VentraIP is also very good.

      • After the promo price ends, what's it cost for Hosting w/ Zuver…?

        • +1

Read the post and you might learn something ;)

        • +1

          $3/month

  • Been waiting for a deal like this, thanks OP

  • Thanks upside down Montorola.

  • Does the rate continue to reoccur or does it go up after the year is up?

    • As per topic heading: …from $0.30/Month up to 1 Year…

      • Then full price, and no special pricing or offers.

    • Yeah so don't order just 1 month like I did years ago :)

  • Do these folks also do online stores (couldn't see it on their site)? I'm with godaddy and its quite expensive (i'd be happy to rebuild my online store on a different platform).

    • +2

They don’t have a website builder like GoDaddy, however they do have cPanel softaculous apps like Wordpress (WooCommerce), Joomla, prestashop, magento & more which you can use to create a website/store.

  • I might transfer my domains and hosting to them.
    Might be good

  • Are these instances capable of running Docker?

  • Have used them for the last year.

    Great service.

  • I've been a customer of Zuver since last year. So far so good!

  • Damn! just signed up with them last week for a year…

    • +1

You can cancel it and they’ll refund you the full amount you paid (I think within 24-48 hrs?) and then re sign up :)

  • What's the email storage limit? Is it part of the 10GB space?
Do you do Cloud Emails too? We're wanting to migrate away form POP.

  • any deal for existing customers Op?

    • +1

Good luck. VentraIP give little (profanity) about existing customers** - they get you with the cheap signup and bank on you not being bothered to change after the cheap price runs out.

**Pricing wise - as for customer service, they've been absolutely fantastic. Part of the reason I suck up the higher cost for renewals

      • VentraIP, Care about existing customers and normally run two discounts for existing customers a year they refer to them as customer appreciation day or month.

    • Just register a new hosting account and ask them to transfer all your cPanel accounts across. From experience they're very accomodating of this :)

      • Hi, sorry a very newbie question… when you say "transfer all your cPanel accounts accross" Does it means that, if i have a webhost with Godaddy for my own website, and based on your experience, Zuver are quite accomodating in helping people to transfer website from godaddy to zuver?

        am i right?

        thanks in advance.

        • Do you have a cpanel hosting account with Godaddy?

  • Does this allow you to create a custom email domain name?

Would this service be the most appropriate (and cheapest) if that's all I'm looking for?

    • +1

Yes if you already have a domain name.

      • +1

I do not. Does zuver offer creating email domain names?

        • Yes, but it is more expensive. You can try Go daddy or crazy domain. If you want a .com.au you will need an ABN

    • +1

alternatively you can signup to G Suite for $5/month.

      • That's more expensive than this current deal and I think you need to provide your own domain as well.

    • For non-critical use any host is fine.

If one day of email troubles would cost you 10s of 1000s of dollars I would invest in whatever Google or Microsoft are offering today (they like to change names). They're expensive but they've finally monopolised email in 2018 and might reduce the chances of your entire business being classified as spam.

  • Yass was just looking for this (although zuver full price is very reasonable and I have a number of hosting plans with them)

  • Anyone know if it's possible to host a website, and direct to G Suite (old, free G Apps version) for email?

    • Yes you can.

  • Do they provide one click deployment for Wordpress?

    • +1

Yep. I deployed mine easily through an app in Cpanel.

A word of warning about shared hosting generally: you share the server with dozens or possibly hundreds of other customers, and a vulnerability in any one of their websites can often be exploited to access your website and read and modify its contents.

See this article and this tutorial.

I know this from personal experience: phishing pages were hidden away on my site on a shared hosting server. The attacker exploited some vulnerability in another website on the server to gain access to the httpd user, which could then be used to write phishing pages into every customer's public_html directory. I discovered this only after my site was blacklisted by Google Safesite and others, and although I then acted quickly, the damage was done and removing the site from the blacklists was a pain and took a few days.

There are measures that a good hosting provider can take to mitigate the risk of this sort of attack, and it's likely that my particular host was pretty lax with security, which may not be the case with Zuver. But regardless, a shared hosting model will never have the same isolation between customers as a virtual private server (VPS) model, or a containerised model. These come at an additional cost, but it's well worth it my opinion.

    • +1

At this $3/year or $3/month after promo, cant really google anything that come close to what you need in terms of security at co-host. Unless host your own web server at your home/office internet…

      • If you can find some available in the Sydney DC (or don't mind international, Singapore is generally good for AU latency) Vultr have a 2.5USD/month plan: https://www.vultr.com/pricing/

        • Seems like the reviews on support are pretty…average and here 65 compare to Rackspace 95

Hence you solve one issue on co-host, now you're falling in to another… like the old saying pick 2 out of (Stable, Fast, Cost).

    • Most shared web hosting providers including Zuver do a hell of a lot these days to isolate and secure each individual account on the shared server so things like affecting one account cannot take over all the accounts on the server and spread infection to another account.

  • Awesome deal. Just bought 12 months. Thanks OP!

  • Anyone can tell the difference between the web hosting and multi hosting plans they have?

I currently run a few .com and .com.au domains hosted on godaddy premium hosting ($13.99 a month), but not entirely happy with them, was looking a another host, preferably aussie.

The $3 a month one seems very cheap, much advantage for the $20pm one? Im looking at hosting more sites as I pick up work, so not adverse to paying $20pm to get better performance. Will be generally running wordpress sites, godaddy on wordpress is horrendous speed (unless you go for their wordpress dedicated plans).

    • If you have more than 4 domains and not heavy sites, multi host $10/pm will save you some money and they offer like 10 cpanel accounts on last check. You can cut up to 10 accounts, whereas you can also upgrade to $20 should you feel the needs, their helpdesk is super quick btw~~

      • You could look into getting a Private Server and hosting as many sites on it as you want. Probably be around $20-30 USD/month but alot better quality.

  • +1

I had the worst experience with Zuver. Horrible, slow and unresponsive, condescending customer support. The servers are highly highly locked down in terms of functionality. It hosts Wordpress yes, but don't expect a plethora of the good plugins to work. Slow as.
Honestly? Just spend a bit more elsewhere, hosting is cheap and it's not worth the headache unless you've got the simplest Mum & Dad website going.

  • The promotion code you entered has been applied to your cart but no items qualify for the discount yet - please check the promotion terms. What am I doing wrong? Trying to transfer my current domain…

    • Have you chosen web hosting?

      • Yes I have

          Clear your cookies

        • @No Username: I did and it still does not work for me.

        • +1

@7es7ash: Ok I think I know the issue.
The code is only valid for
"I will use my existing domain and update my nameservers"
          You chose
"Transfer your domain from another registrar"

        • @No Username: You got it right ;-) Thanks! BTW Do you know if they offer WhoIs Guard?

        • +1

          @7es7ash:

Free ID Protection: You can enable ID Protection on any non .AU domain name to mask your details that display on a WHOIS search.

        • @Juzzy96: Thank you

        • @7es7ash: Whois Guard is only offered by the domain registrar I think. Go daddy gives you the ability to hide this for free but you could also sign up with a fake name but, this will violate ToS.

  • Where do you get cheap domains from?

    • +1

Go Daddy, if you want .com only and not .com.au

      • Expect to be shafted when renewal time comes around though…. GoDaddy are famous for it.

    • +2

Recently I've bought a couple of domains from porkbun.com
Strange name for a domain registrar but I've found them to be transparent with their pricing and free domain privacy.
      USD$8 for a .Com domain

    • NameSilo is another good one.

  • When does this deal expire?

    • It shouldn't as the coupon has been active for 2 years.

  • +1

    Signed up
It flagged my account as fake or something and cancelled my invoice
    Sent a support ticket
    Never heard a response.

    :(

  • The linked deal says 50 percent off with the code "z50"

    Where's the 90% off?

    • I've just linked the web hosting plans. The coupon in my post ZUVER90 gives you 90% off.

  • +2

Zuver are great - full cPanel, SSH, FTP, WebDav access to your hosting. Good for running a small forum, wordpress or testing site.

  • Bit new to this. Do I have to pay for the domain registration? Or is the hosting enough. Just want something for zotero, pocket and RSS.

    • +1

Hosting is just some space to put your site on.

Then you need a domain so people can easily find your site.

You don't have to use the same provider for both, but if you are starting out it makes it much easier for support to help you if you have any questions.

Zotero looks like a desktop app rather than something you'd run as a website?

      • Thank you for your answer. Zotero can use webdav to sync the library across devices.

        • Oh in that case you don't need a domain, you could just access the webdav via the IP address.

  • Thanks OP.

  • Anyone know when this offer will end?

    • The code has been active for 3+ years so I don't think it'll end anytime soon.

      • Thanks. Hope you are right because my current hosting expires in a month and a half.

  • Bought a year and a domain for $19.60 and installed WordPress and a theme in less than 15 minutes all on my phone. Pretty decent!

  • What are people thinking. I would never trust my business on a $3.60 a year host.
I see they dont advise the drives they are using, probably HDD / SAS from about 10 years ago.
There are no security measures in place here at all, i also see there is no optimising software - what about backups and live chat??
This is only recommended for a hobby site you would never expect traffic to or upload anything more than 50 low quality images to.

    • Zuver do this to draw in first time customers. After that there is no way to apply a coupon and you pay full price. They have good support and my sites previously on Zuver automatically backed up.

This is intended for a hobby site or an initial start up. My website was originally on Zuver and managed with the massive amounts of traffic after trending. Now I have a proper web host.

Important to remember that Zuver, Ventraip and synergy wholesale are the same company.

  • I highly recommend Namecheap if you want great value hosting plans. I have used their "Professional" and "Ultimate" shared hosting plans and am super impressed with the performance and support they give for the price (Starting at around A$20 for the first year and then going to about A$80 for renewal). Their servers are never overloaded and they give a 100% up-time guarantee. What's the best is their chat support where you get pretty much instant response on their online chat help. When I compare this to my old host where I had to wait for a ticket to be responded to (could be hours or in some cases, days) even when there were critical issues.

Namecheap on the other hand seem to have a very good policy for helping out, including restoring from backups for you if you need (they perform daily backups if your account is less than 25gb) and also happily perform full migrations of your site for you.

    • That's basically how Synergy operate. I'm curious what happens if there is downtime. Partial refund?

      • Something like that, I believe. TBH, I'm not interested in refunds, I am more interested that they have a vested interest in ensuring that their service remains up. The last host I was with took my service offline without any notice when an errant script was running. No notice, no investigation of the issue. Turns out they hosted all their clients within the same "virtual" webservice, which means it brought all their clients offline. AFAIK, they still operate the same way, so anyone can write a simple script to take thousands of websites offline. With Namecheap, at least I know that all web services are isolated, so if one of your scripts go AWOL, you are the only one affected. Plus, the support people are more than willing to help you track down the issue instead of saying "it's your problem".
