90% off New cPanel Web Hosting Plans @ Zuver (from $0.30/Month for up to 1 Year)

170
BACK2WORK

Same as past deal - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/293089 - so just read discussion over there.

If you only pay for a month, you'll pay full price after the first month. If you want a whole year for $3.60 you'll have to pre-pay for the whole year.

Personally I starting using free 000webhost again for a quick Wordpress testing environment (EDIT: changed my mind again, they've become bait-and-switch scam artists). This deal is more useful for production environments.

Might get a year's worth for my 10 year old ….He's getting into coding and web development since coding camp.

    Oh god don't go Zuver.
The absolute worst experience I've ever had with a host. Worse than bluehost.
They lock down all the functionality of the server so they can pack more people on it as possible. It didn't even run basic wordpress.
Customer support was absolutely disasterous with over 2-3 days wait just to reply to an online email submission form.

It's cheap, but avoid at all costs.

I went with Siteground if you're wondering - I found it's a sweet spot with cost & support and they actually care & go out of their way to help if you need it.
I think they have an easter sale on atm too.

Your comment is so fake. I've built more than 20 WordPress sites on Zuver for multiple clients and they're all running perfectly. Customer support was also fast and helpful.

I couldn't disagree more. Email support usually turns around in less than 20 min, regardless of when you log a ticket. They are literally as cheap as chips, are Australian and seem to have really reliable hosting. I think you must have the hosting confused, there is nothing locked down in the hosting, its so fully featured its riduiculous for 30c a month. As many sql tables as you want, as many email users, as many subdomains. Its literally perfect, regardless of the price.

    • Yeah I have to agree with the other commenters. I've had my Zuver account for a few years now and the only issues I had were some weird domain migration issues that they fixed up pretty quick when I raised a ticket. Wordpress runs quite fine on it as well.

  • Isn't this kind of 'bargain' just a customer grab to prepare for a take-over, usually by VentraIP?

    • +2

      Thought Zuver was already VentraIP?

      Edit: https://zuver.net.au/about

They are owned by Ventra, and I think they try to upsell you onto Ventra, which is fine if you need the extra piece of mind for phone support, but no issues otherwise. I have been with zuver for more than a year and its been flawless.

        couldn't agree more!

  • Zuver and Ventra are both great. I have been a customer with both for years (Ventra for many years after going to them after some US hosting for years and Zuver a year or so). Also if you follow the Wednesday and other deals and have a few domains up your sleeve and know how DNS & redirection stuff works you can save some money over the years. I will save even more when I figure a few more tricks out (mainly re mail spoof/redirecting). Also support with Ventra has always been great, I have never paid extra for the quick support option but the support I received has always been much quicker than their SLA in my own experience.

  • Since you mentioned it, tell me more about 000webhost.

At what cost, is it free?

    • +1

Yep, they have a free plan but I would never use it for a production website. It has random connection issues very frequently. But unlike most free hosts you can launch instantly without registering a domain (they give you one of their sub-domains) so it's great for testing plugins/modules and configurations before using on a real project. And from testing a few months ago I believe it properly supported cURL over HTTPS so it's good enough for testing PayPal instant payment notifications, for example.

      • Wow thanks, this is a great resource.

I always wanted a way to test and improve my Wordpress capabilities.

        Thanks again.

No worries. Just keep in mind it can be extremely frustrating (speaking of current experience). It seems once you have even a handful of modules installed you'll get a "MySQL server has gone away" error message all the time (but maybe it's worth setting up different accounts in case it's partly luck of the draw).

There are a lot of alternatives you might like to check out that offer "most" features you would need on http://www.freewebhostingtalk.com/forumdisplay.php?18-Free-H…. It's a shame 000webhost isn't reliable since it offers everything out of the box. I agree with Gav's point about using a unique password and/or e-mail for all of these free hosts (though a lot of these companies cancel accounts when explicitly disposable e-mail addresses are identified).

Be sure to use a unique password on this site! And unique email if you can.
