Cocoon Create Touch 3D Printer from ALDI Now $399 (Was $499)

210

Hi all,
Long time reader first time poster but just wanted to share the awesome Concoon 3d Touch at Aldi is now $399 instead of $499. I picked it up today at Aldi Adelaide Airport. I know Marion also had some. Adelaide airport also advised they will be getting additional stock as well in the next week or two.

Printer is from:
https://www.cocooncreate.com.au/

Built in touchscreen for menu operation
Heated bed and 200 x 200 x 180mm print area
Can print your designs directly from an SD card.

This is a actually a re branded Wanhao i3 Plus but with all the issues fixed eg the shorting out of the heated print plate (nylon insulators installed) and local stock and already pre assembled compared to Chinese overseas kits. Above all local warranty with Aldi and 60 day satisfaction guarantee

enjoy all :)

Good little printer there - but stock at my local stores sold out quite fast, so I think you'll be hard pressed to find these guys. Definitely a good price if you can though.

    • Yep, even rang head office to check stock, nothing local at all…

      • @ryang which state? Looking for stock in Melbourne

        • All outer eastern Melbourne stores were out of stock when I rang 2 weeks ago.

Would this be better quality prints than say a Creality CR10?

Mostly comes down to time and patience in the tuning of your own settings.

If you have the budget and are definitely keen on 3D printing as a hobby, go a CR-10s, you won't regret it.

But if you're after something 'cheaper' just to tinker, this one is a good price, as they also have a local Australian reseller that offers warranty and support.

    • You should get the Creality CR10s. s representing an upgrade. It has a lot of support on thingiverse and other 3d printing websites.
Another one to consider is the Tevo tornado which I have. go through some on line reviews and see which you like.
      Each has their benefits

Damn it, I thought this site was supposed to help me save money.

Now I have to come up with some 'reasons' I need a 3D printer.

      You can print more money.

  • It's a great machine for that price, considering how little work it takes to have it up and printing.

  • Just beware even if there is stock still around, I think Aldi discounts are up to the local manager's discretion, unlike say Kmart where they'd be fed in the computer and nationwide.

For instance, I've seen solar panels marked at Aldi Hurstville for $299, where just one train stop away at Aldi Kogarah they were $199.

Incidentally, Aldi Kogarah is the best place to try if you've missed a special from 4 weeks ago: stock seems to stick around much longer. They might even be where unsold stock from other stores gets sent to, possibly because they have the floorspace.

  • Yeah $449 at Marsden.

    • Did they adjust it to the same price? Both Marion and airport in SA had them for 399 as the ticket price

I didn't get one. They did it when the Xbox One S was on clearance too. They were higher price for a couple of weeks. That store seems to be happy to sit on stock for a long time. There's another store about 15 mins away, I might give them a call. Actually there's seven Aldi stores within about 20 mins of me by the looks.

—edit— Can't find the phone numbers…

        • yeah aldi stores dont have phone numbers to call them :( and when they call you they always call from blocked numbers and wont give it out :(

  • Local store wouldn't match on this receipt as it didn't have a date showing :( Did it for $449 though.

My wife just checked Booval. $449.

  • Hey OP, any chance of sharing another shot of the receipt that includes the date?

      As requested

  • Thanks OP, just picked up the last one from my local Aldi.

Was still priced at $499 and was about to try and negotiate a price, receipt photo ready to go on my phone, when they slapped a $399 tag on it before I got the chance.

Picked up the last two rolls of filament they had too at $30 each (not sure if that's a particularly good price or not, found some cheap stuff on gumtree, ie anyone used the stuff from these guys, selling for $20 a roll on gumtree. Or are you just asking for trouble with really cheap filament?)

    • What store did you buy it from for $399? The only stores I've seen them at are $449.

      • Gateways (in WA)

Maybe worth checking again, yours may have dropped price again if they still have stock.

        • +1

Ok nowhere near me (VIC). Yea I check every few days. They'll have to reduce them again eventually. :)

        • @rski: where in Vic? I'll buy for $449… 😀

        • +1

@ryang: Some stores west side of Melbourne around Mooney Ponds had some.

        • @rski: Bugger, bit too far for me. Thanks anyway!

  • yea everywhere i see says 449 and wont budge down to 399 :(

  • These are still around and priced at $399. I just picked one up today at Ashgrove, QLD, and there are multiple units left.
