  • Woow, great price.
    Might consider it depending how much extra for baggage and if any other fees involved.

  • That's amazing. It's not hurricane season or anything like that is it?

  • bloody hell, wish I could go !!

    • +2

      Be positive… Maybe you'll get early parole by then…

      • not a chance…

  • Cheap thanks

  • Anything for Brisbane coming up?

    • +1

      It’s always hard to know what’s coming up but if you subscribe for daily alerts you shouldnt miss any deals

      • +4

        Smooth OP, smooth.

  • -5

    You should let people know these prices exclude taxes maybe put up the real prices so you don't confuse people into thinking they can actually book a $388 ticket,
    Most of the time with taxes included it ends up being the same as the actual airline direct which is better in my opinion to book direct!

    • +2

      The quoted fares are bookable. What taxes do you think have been excluded?

      • -1

        I clicked on the top 5 prices when you click the link all prices are excluding tax and whatever booking fees the third party websites have

        • -1

          These are amazing sale fares and are volatile so there is a chance they will go up once you click through as they sell out.

        • +1

          I've tried to click through and get multiple deals and so far three things have been more than double the listed price. Bloody hell.

        • -1

          @DonWilson: I dont think the fact that sale fares are selling out and may no longer available be a reason to downvote the deal? This is a reality of volatile sale fares. I have been on the Jetstar site directly and lost sale fares due to this.

        • +2

          @flightscout: I think the deal being unavailable is a decent reason to downvote the deal, yes. It would be unfair to downvote it tomorrow but within 2 hours of the deal being posted it's fair to warn people they probably can't get the listed prices.

        • @DonWilson: Jetstar sale fares like this can sell out very fast, Sydney to Honolulu is still available from $414 return as Neil commented below.

          As mentioned I have been direct on the Jetstar site and lost sale fares due to how fast they sell out.

        • +1

          @flightscout: fine, I'll remove the neg if you mark the listing as expired.

        • +1

          @DonWilson: You would prefer people miss out on a great deal still at $414?

        • @DonWilson: I have updated the headline price to reflect current prices.

        • +5

          @flightscout:

          I dont think the fact that sale fares are selling out and may no longer available be a reason to downvote the deal?

          It is if you can't obtain the deal…

        • @flightscout: I'll pay the price update. Neg removed.

        • +2

          @DonWilson: you know, instead of negging a deal you can just report it, and in the report/comment box state "lowest price is $XXX" and the mods will update.

        • +1

          @altomic: I was looking at Perth prices. The three I clicked were literally over double what was claimed.

        • +1

          @DonWilson: so, you report that. "Perth prices have sold out - please remove from title + description"

        • @altomic: Fair enough. Will do in future.

    • Clicking the cheapest listing from the deal URL.
      $403 brings me to Skyscanner showing $414/$415. The 1st retailer Expedia, 2nd Jetstar.

      Jetstar is showing $409.86 including taxes.
      Expedia is showing $414 including taxes.

      While Flightscout certainly needs to up its frequency of their cache ($403 vs $414/$409), they are including taxes for the ones I saw.

      Jetstar also charges bag, meal, and seat selection fee but that's an issue you run into for all quoted airlines that don't include it (e.g. Tiger, Air Asia etc.).

      Edit: More checking on Sydney

      • $410 -> $384 on Skyscanner -> $414 on Expedia
      • $410 -> $394 on Skyscanner -> $424 on Lastminute
      • $415 -> $414 on Skyscnner -> $414 on Expedia
      • $420 -> $414 on Skyscanner -> $414 on Expedia
      • $421 -> $414 on Skyscanner -> $414 on Expedia
      • Hi Neil,

        There are so many integrations from Jetstar to LastMinute (who have the best fares) to SkyScanner to Flight Scout it takes time for these updates to propagate through. While there are sales like Jetstars seats can sell out very quickly and it can take some time for this to be reflected.

        While other posts say "hunt around for the best prices yourself and if you can't find any they are gone" we do the hard work to find these deals and the cheapest dates to travel.

        We hope that people can appreciate the work that is done to find these deals.

      • I know you are not the OP and most likely not a travel agent……

        And I appreciate your efforts…. but….

        Dates would be good.

        • It was March, October, November & December. I think it was the dates listed in the OP.

  • +3

    That 8.05am departure for flights back to melb though … basically pay the savings in accomm for the extra night. Might be a great deal for others though.

    • +1

      That's a great point - about paying for an extra night to get the cheap flight

      I jumped on an equivalent deal which had me in the land of the MASSIVE coffee BUCKET (and the FULLY LOADED breakfast) last week and my last day had us out of bed at 4.30AM to meet our 8.30AM flight. At the time, I thought that paying $500 dollars a day for our low level "Waikiki view" hotel room was OK even though I was leaving early because we had a whole extra day to wander around paying AUD $15 for edible tomatoes….but we ended up getting to bed (to the sounds of Waikiki's screaming madmen) by 10PM. The 5* hotel refused to allow me express check out so I had to queue up at 4.45AM to check out to pay for the $38/ day USD) resort fee (yep, use of the swimming pool and associated towels)

      • Ouch! That is a horror story!

  • I've noticed in the past that Jetstar direct has different prices compared with those shown on Skyscanner. In this case 1% less. I thought in the past it was due to a double currency conversion with a time difference but the currency hasn't changed 1% in the last day. Maybe Skyscanner adds the 1% fee option as a default? I'm too lazy/sleepy to investigate right now.

    Oahu is overrated TBH.

  • 11 nov to 30 nov
    price is just $287 return
    so cheap

  • -1

    We booked to go to Hawaii for two weeks with Jetstar a few weeks ago. Luggage fees are about $200 a bag return. Meals can be another $20-30 per person with a drink. The extras can add up quite quickly for a family. Having said that, it will still be cheaper to have two weeks in Honululu, than a lot of places locally

    • +1

      What rubbish… a 25kg bag return would cost $86.

      • Not sure why you think I'd make something like that up? but looking at their website now. Prices start at $88 for a 15KG bag each way, $105 for a 25KG bag and up to $163 for 40KG.

        • You’re leaving out some important information.

          That’s the price if you pay at the airport. It’s much cheaper if you prepay.

        • [@SavageCa Unfortunately not. We fly in September and that is the price we were asked to pay online after booking the tickets. There are 5 of us travelling. I have paid for 3 bags so far $600, may have to pay for another bag if we don't pack light enough, or buy too much stuff when we are there.

          Perhaps if you are flying to Sydney or the Gold coast it is cheaper. But those are the prices we have been asked to pay to Honolulu.

    • We flew just with carry on. 2A and 2C: each with an "average of 7KG")

      We weren't weighed in Melbourne;
      We were weighed in Honolulu (the luggage czar agreed that an average of 7KG would apply)and as our luggage was tagged, it was OK in Sydney too. Many passengers had their luggage taken from them there.

      Advantages of carry on: - Firstly the speed of exiting the airport - secondly we were actively discouraged from shopping in Honolulu to keep to the carry on limit( but that was OK - everything - from vegetables to restaurant meals to Walmart - was way more expensive than buying the equivalent in Australia)

      From a cost perspective I would not go back to Honolulu. Cheap plane tickets yes, but food / accommodation/ shopping/ taxi were more expensive than Australia. For example, my dear wife and 2 kids paid the best part of AUD$500 for a 2 1/2 hour catamaran ride out to see turtles and to enjoy the on board lunch.

  • $413 return during the Halloween period how good. Could go to Japan and Hawaii every year with these prices.

  • damnit i need to go in September-early october and isnt part of this list… lol

  • Thanks for sharing mate. Great prices

    • Glad you enjoyed :)

      Do you subscribe to the daily email alert? This deal was in there hours before I posted here.

      • +1

        No I don’t. I try to keep emails to a minimum. U should post on here quicker! Love your posts on ozbargain

        • Thanks I appreciate that :D

          Had to wait til I had a post available to share it, we only get 2 posts a week. Wish we could share much more we see amazing deals worldwide every day.

        • @flightscout: really? Send me a PM if u want and I’ll post it. These deals are too good not to share. They genuinely make people’s lives better by encouraging them to go on holidays.

        • +1

          @Bellpop: That's exactly why I built this site. After years building large travel sites I saw a way to identify the low cost fares giving more people an opportunity to travel more often.

          If you got the daily deals alert you may see deals yourself that you think are worth sharing into the community.

  • Is it just me or is accommodation on Waikiki a little ridiculous? I went about 15 yrs ago, can't recall it being that high.. Good flights pricing.
